how about covering yourself in car oil on car- but you have to do those poses as well - you can start from 0W20 all the way to I think 40W70 is the thickest you can getTo make video's of slurp noises while eating weird ****, right?
Mechanics must jizz themselves when they see those engine bays.![]()
Remember this Q7, they created this engine for the A8 but it never fitted![]()

This one is my favourite![]()

Change auxiliary belt... Parts R800 Labour R15,000
So much work must be engine out type stuff when the engine bay is that jam packed full.
Yeap, alot of engine out work but its not only an Audi thing - I remember the previous gen Austin Martins you had to drop the engine to change the spark plugs because of the angle of the V you couldnt get the plugs from the top.Mechanics must jizz themselves when they see those engine bays.

and alot of scraps and cuts on your fingers and armsThey don't in reality, it is a huge pain in the ass to work on these engines, you need proper lifts, lots of space, specialist tools and a lot of time.
I think the Mini also requires you to drop the subframe to get to the spark plugs. Some BMW's require you to take the cowling by the windscreen off and then you still need a wobbly bit to reach around and get to cylinder 6's spark plug.Yeap, alot of engine out work but its not only an Audi thing - I remember the previous gen Austin Martins you had to drop the engine to change the spark plugs because of the angle of the V you couldnt get the plugs from the top.
I serviced the turbo on my Golf 6 Gti , it was sending oil into the intake and apparently thats a subframe drop but managed to get it out the top without dropping the subframe. My friend did a Q7 timing chain on a 4.2 V8 without taking out the engine
I remember this one but on the E46 it was not that much , you take of the pollen filter and the housing and you get to the 6th cylinderI think the Mini also requires you to drop the subframe to get to the spark plugs. And come to think of it, my KLR650 also had me remove the bloody fuel tank to replace the spark plug so it's not just cars that are problematic![]()
I think most places drop the engine so they screw the customers on labour cost.I did the timing chain, no need to take the engine out (Audi Q7)
On the other hand, had to replace rear engine seals. (Had to remove the engine and it was like lego block building lol).
On those you can almost stand in the engine bay right up next to the engine with the amount of room. I don't miss my Citi Golf at all. Biggest POS that there ever was. I nearly bought shares in Midas with all the door handles and carburettor bases I went throughI like working on my MkI Golf, you don't need to take the engine out for anything, in fact you can take the engine out and it is so light you just run like Fred Flintstone to get around.

Yeah, I had the plebian 1.3 engine, mated to the top-of-the-line best-in-class 4-speed manual
If that car was any cheaper, it would ask me for money each time I turned the key
When are you doing a VR6 swap?I took over my mother's 1992 CitiGolf Sport with 1.8l engine and 5 speed before it went to my brother who wrote it off. Such great memories in that car in my late teens and early twenties at university and I sort of go down memory lane in my 1982 MkI Golf although with a 1.5l engine it is far from being quick.

Fair point. We aren't so lucky as to get hold of engines and parts as easily as overseasWould rather do an R32 if I was going to replace the engine but it is a lot of work and a lot of money so zero plans to do it.
