The Audi Thread

Your windows look very clean, any tips or secrets to getting that right?
*disclaimer: not my actual pic, took off internet.

I haven't cleaned my interior since 2012, always wash and go, but I hate dirty windows so I chuck suds in the dispenser and use wet cloth and newspaper on the inside of windscreen. First thing I do when I start a drive is pull that windscreen stalk.

I hate the 3 nozzle jets (they always get blocked) and have some spray ones from temu that are sitting in a box somewhere, just need to beat the procrastinator.

Hey guys, any experiences with Vagspec Menlyn and Vagspec Randburg - anybody able to suggest one over the other?

Need to book a service and have a few niggly issues to get looked at.

I have only ever used VAGSpec Randburg but they are owned by the same gent and have been good to me over the years despite recent issues with injector seal/washer replacement.

One injector refused to seal, no matter how many times seals and washers were replaced, which cylinder the injector was placed, etc. It is better now but I am not entirely convinced it is fully sealed but I may just be being paranoid.
You would think VAG can do copper seals in their sleep. Did they scratch mating surface taking old seal out? What makes you say its not sealed? Just a sound thing?

Unfortunately, from the research I did, my Touareg was one of those bastards that just had issues amongst the thousands where it is just another simple maintenance job. I am not sure what the root cause was or is, research points to many things being possible...

When the copper washer fails or doesn't seal, you can hear a distinct chuffing sound as the cylinder pressure escapes, depending on how long it has been going on for you get a black goo residue in the engine bay, you also get a fuel smell and in some cases you can see the fuel vapour 'leaking' from the affected injector port.

Thank you for the feedback. I was sending the car to Randburg, but my last visit, the service was not great at all, no clarity on repair times. They kept telling me they will call me back at x time, which they didnt, and i had to call back multiples times a day to remind them to give me feeback which they promised they would send.

Was yours making a chuffing sound before the repair?

Mines on 230k and I haven't touched injectors yet. I guess I wait for the chuffing sound before bothering?

Sorry to hear about your experience, hopefully it goes better if you give the Menlyn branch a go.
