The Audi Thread

Good luck waiting on the side of th road for assistance.

It’s not a full size spare, the tyre looks compressed somehow, 20inch fitting in a 15 inch hole. I wouldnt want to be sitting on the road side faffing with a user manual.
I had a flat recently. Audi support was amazing they came out, fixed it with the spare which was interesting it’s super small but once inflated becomes the same size as other tyres. Unfortunately the hole in mine was not repairable so had to change it. But yeah the Audi roadside worked fine.

Now im curious how easy it goes back into the small hole.

I didn't see them put it back, but either when it deflates it can be folded back properly - or they use a suck and suck it smaller again? But it needs to be folded properly like the rubber folds back into itself on the rim. Quite interesting.

Is it a mariebiscuit width with speed limit?

This is how it looks when you take it out - its like only 13" on a car with 21" wheels...

As you pump it up, like a lot more rubber unfolds from inside and it expands - its basically a giant cushion with a rim lol...

And finally it reaches the same tyre height exactly as the other 21" on the car...

I don't know how they collapse it back and put it back because i drove it to Audi the next day and left it there to be fixed while i went for coffee to cope with the stress :)

So it’s not as wide as the other tyres? I see it also has a 80km/h limit so I would say no, it’s not as wide as the others. I wonder how much that costs to replace if that gets a puncture?

I have the same in my Touareg, like BMW's run flats, these are not designed with Africa in mind.

I didn't have a problem with it? it worked fine i just went home and then to Audi. I imagine if i was on a highway traveling somewhere and it happened, i would have asked Audi support to tow the car on a flatbed, not put the spare on.

Sure, it inflated and you were on your way, 'technically' there is nothing wrong with them. Africa being Africa, I don't want to be on the side of the side of the road any longer than I need to be and having to inflate a spare wheel/tyre in addition to removing the flat wheel/tyre is extra time and extra risk. Then there is the speed and distance limit on these, which in Europe is perfectly fin but not in the middle of the Karoo on the way to Cape Town as an example.

So my C6 A6 3.0T has a severe coolant and oil leak. 150k service also due, which means transmission fluid and serpentine belt replacement.

Wonder what a stealership would charge to sort the above?

Suppose it depends on the nature of the coolant and oil leaks?

Get a quote from a stealership just for fun and post it here. I am willing to bet your oil/coolant leak is due to the oil cooler in the V of the engine. It is a common failure point on many V engines...

Probably more than the car is worth. Get it done at Audi specialist with goldwagen parts. As mentioned above, get a quote for some laughs.

I wonder when mine is going to fail? Im on 235k.

Most German brands make really weird fugly looking front grills on their EV, look at BMW and Mercedes, same thing.
Why not just use a normal nice looking grill, I know the air flow isn't needed but keep the look consistent and easy on the eye.
or at least not make it body colour.
