The Audi Thread

2007, A6 3.2 Fsi Quattro. 174k on the clock. Sunroof B&O sound. Electric seats. 19" alloys. Black. Freaking sexy beast. Love this car. Not a stitch of mechanical wear showing. Most I have had to replace outside of normal service is a fan belt a month back.
Pushing about 700kms a week.

Ya - sucks dude.

My last A6 I traded they gave me 35 fkn K for it. Was so pissed. I had had it for 8 years and was 10 years old total so ya. But still. I wanted the one I have now so bad though that I just overlooked it.

Photos please let's see this sexy beast☺

That 3.2 at sea level will run rings around the 2.0T! Might battle at altitude though...

I rarely see the back of other vehicles here in Gauteng.

But ye - we go down to the coast fairly often and OMF. Totally different machine. The performance is insanely better than up here. Coupled with the V6 growl just totally brings you to continuous holy **** moments - lol.

And lighties say an A6 is a ballies car. Lol. Bring that GTi :)

Took a porche out a few weeks ago. Mainly cause the dude could not drive I reckon. He slipped gears going into third and I got ahead (neck and neck till then). Don't ask me what porche. I never saw the back - lol.

I thought I was the only one that got so attached.

I remember a dealer showing me all the new features of my car and while they did that, they were closing the showroom doors - so another salesperson reversed my old car right next to the new car :( I told the dealer I had to leave and I'd figure out from the owners manual ... didn't really want to see them together. Like an ex and current in the same room

im surprised you could tell the difference ;)

That was a RunX and Corolla ;)

But I know what you are referring too ... hehe. A 2008 and 2012 C30 look very different in the front!

Collection Thu. They pushing for tomorrow though. These guys here got me thinking I should hold off though and try go private sale. Wife is annoyed at them - lol.

Lol methinks the wife wants you to get a new toy so she can use it as ammo against you. "Oh why can't we go to this fancy place, didn't you just buy a new car last week?" kinda situation

Congrats Mike, that A5 is gorgeous, and it's the motor and spec I'd want (even though I'm up in JHB and N/A just gets creamed.

PP just buy something already!

Quick Q. Aren't you guys worried about buying turbo'd cars that are a 3+ years old and over 50, 000 kms?

Audi's are bullet proof bro...

My 2004 Multitronic A4 has cost me close to R50k over the last 3 years to repair!! Okay, I lie R21k, the first time the box broke Motorite covered the cost of the repair, R28k!!

And it's only got 118k on the clock!!!

After getting the box repaired about 3 years ago I was in the market for a replacement vehicle. Dealers offered me R95k on my A4 2.4 and I was looking at putting in another R100k odd and getting something around the R200k mark. I decided then that I wouldn't spend anywhere near R100k maintaining the Audi so decided to keep it. No regrets, I'm enjoying her despite recently dropping another R21k on a new ECU less than a year ago...

Of course, one always has an eye on the 2nd hand market and when you have Mike giving his A6 away for a meagre R90k, one is tempted to jump in and say, "hey, wait Mike, I'll give you R120k for her!!"

Offer R120k and it's yours :) still too low but at least a put another R30k into the A5.

And Ye - had 4 Audi's now and none of them given me k@k. Solid machines. Main reason I keep buying them.

Oh - salesman throwing in an Audi tog bag and a beanie. Bonus. Suppose it kind of makes up for the R90k odd loss. NOT. Still cool though.

Quick Q. Aren't you guys worried about buying turbo'd cars that are a 3+ years old and over 50, 000 kms?

Not really no. Turbo replacement prices are always quoted from stealerships, 1/3 - 1/4 of the price from a reputable mechanic. And as sandman showed, a N/A engine can also cost loads...

If you have the full service history, list of claims against warranty, and have a good feeling with the owner, I don't think there's much to be worried about.

DO IT

The car deserves better than to be sold to a dealer who would pass it on to a tenderpreneur who plans to cover it in KFC grease. Do it!

Lol, I'm veeeeery tempted!!!

Was chatting to my wife just now. She says not to be swayed by you guys cause this is a good deal. I say huh and painted this scenario to her.

You browsing Autotrader and come across a mechanically sound 2007 A6 3.3 FSi Quattro selling for R90k. Do you even spare the purchase a thought? He'll no... But here I am selling mine for that. Madness I tell you.

Honestly, someone come with R120k and it's yours. You don't get a better scenario where we both score big. I make R30k. You save at least R30k and closer to R60k. One of those do you even spare a thought deals :)
