The Audi Thread

You need to post some pics of the interior... Black with cream/white/tan/beige and I'm in. Black and grey not so much...

I swear, when I get my new car - eventually - it'll be 50% for me and 50% for you. :D

Heh, i just know your pain. I spent upwards of 6 months looking for my Accord, countless hours on gumtree and probably 50+ visits to dealerships within a 75km radius of home. Nothing comes close to finding a car after all that.

Thanks bro, gives me hope.

Familiar? :D

Been like this for months...

174K now. I do mainly freeway driving. About 80% of my driving is freely. So mileage accumulated by cruising.

25k per annum is moderate mileage. Mileage puts me off a bit although it shouldn't. That engine is good for another 200k at least, provided it's serviced regularly. Is it early 2007 model?

Its cream leather with chrome and wooden trimmings. Very classy and sexy inside.
Will take pics in the AM and post here. May pop outside just now if I can brave the cold :)

Should probably wait till morning. Unless you got an uber flash...?

That is hot!! SatNav? PDC?

EDIT: What sort of mileage you getting per 100km's?

And how's the current tyre wear? What does a 19" cost these days? R3.5k?

No satnav or PDC dude. Unfortunately.
The satnav I did not like at the time. Much better on later models, but around that time it was horrible. Preferred an external.
The current satnav is much better.

Consumption is better than my wife's Sportage 2.0L. Freeway I get 7.9 to 8.2 / 100 with cruise control set to 130km/h.
Town is around 9.5 if I drive like a human. Having fun will suck her dry in no time. 70L tank gives me 380km driving like a hooligan around town. But 550 behaving myself.
A Durban trip will see about 1050kms on a tank. 850 with 5 occupants, boot full and pulling a trailer.

Rear tyres put on in Dec 2012. Front about a year old.
The car came with Michelin. R5,200 per tyre. About a year back I changed 2 of them for Toyo T1 sports at R2,400 per tyre. They drive just like Michelin so bonus. No complaints. Biggest competitor to Michelin in Europe from what I understand.
In Dec 2012 I replaced the other 2 with Roadstone. Same factory as Michelin from what I understand (their budget brand). These were R1,500 each. They handle very well but are noisier because of the harder compound.
I would stick to the Toyo's going forward. Zero issues with these.

I repeat myself. DO IT.

But yeah I've also seen it in person, very good condition especially considering the age.

Thanks dude. :)

I have to disclose the body issues that the camera does not pick up and you would not necessarily pick up walking around the car.

There are small marks/scratches here and there due to age and visiting shopping mall parking lots. I try to make a habit to park at the farthest parking to reduce the risk. Not obviously noticeable.
I took her to the panel beaters here in Edenvale last week to get a quote and restoring her to new and the guy said not necessary. Said to book her in for a compound and polish at R850 and that should be enough.

Around 2 months ago I was travelling home from Hartees on the R511 where they are doing roadworks. Oncoming traffic was forced into our lane. A woman in her Jetta came too close and klapped my mirror. It created a small crack underneath, shattered the glass and the force of the mirror closing left a small dent in the trim on the door. I went to Audi immediately and purchased new glass. (the entire Jetta mirror disappeared never to be found).

She had her service 3 weeks ago and the tools cracked both rear light casings. I only noticed it a week later (cause not noticeable) and went back to complain. It became a he said she said so I left it. Replacement second hand ones from Four spring in Terrace Road are about R3k.

I would budget R5k on the R120k to get body back to tip top.

I recently sent in all 4 mags for straightening (anal like that).
The spare is also a 19" alloy (not sent in).

EDIT: I repeat - mechanically she is hundreds. I am no mechanic, but she drives like the day I purchased her and cannot notice anything I should take note of. Solid engine.
Tiptronic gearbox is also hundreds. No different to the day I purchased her.

Thanks for posting those Mike!! Looks good man!!

This the 180k service you talking about? You still taking it to that workshop there in Edenvale?

Yes, Auto Service Center in Edenvale. This last service I was not happy. Andre is letting his son run the show it seems and quality has dropped. They did the basics fine though. Was not happy about the tail lights.
Fan belt and all break pads were replaced at this service.

EDIT: To upgrade the front lights to Xenon with the DLR will set you back about R9k. Was hunting around for prices last week as I have been thinking about doing this. I can't remember where I got the price though as I was not focused. Just browsing for pricing.

If you want to upgrade the sound to handle an iPod that integrates with the Audi multimedia interface you can get this done in Boksburg for around R6k. It is pricey because the system is apparently all optical and they have to slice blah blah.
This upgrade includes USB and bluetooth for phone. I currently have a Parrot CK3something installed which I will leave.
The sound is the best I have ever heard in a car, and has become a requirement in any future Audi.
