The Audi Thread

Looking good man. These Passats are very nice looking cars.

So, what are the specs? What do you have in? Bought new?

Bought a 2013 demo with 16000km's on the clock, for a great price. Better price than any 2013 Jetta with under 20000km's... and (like an Audi) it comes with a 5 year/100000km motorplan as standard. It has the 118kW Audi 1.8 turbo engine (8.5s 0-100), 7-speed DSG, bluetooth, dual zone climate control, heated leather seats, auto dimming mirrors, auto brights, lights to the side when you are turning etc, etc. Very comfortable, great consumption figures and more than enough car for me :D

Hmm mind filling us in on how much it went for? Quite curious to be honest!

That engine (if it is the same one as the A3) should be good for some tuning fun, as the one in the A3 is 132 kw (7.x seconds). How is the consumption though? I'd estimate 7/100 (depending on the road you use naturally, I get 6-7 in my 1.4 due to route).

Yeah. This is the TSI. Think the A3 has the 1.8 TFSI. Getting around 7.8/100 currently, but that is probably because I'm addicted to S mode and paddle shift manual mode :D

R255k @ VW...

TSI=TFSI
Only real difference is the branding hey, the 1.4 in the A3 is the exact same one in the golf, and the same applies for the 2.0TDI for example.

Good price!

Yours the S-tronic? Remember you mentioned it somewhere, but what price did your one go for?

Aye the 1.4 TFSI 7 speed S-Tronic (also the same as the DSG).

Was a 2014 Jan model with ~5500 km on the clock. Silver, with factory fitted Xenon's + DRL, sunroof, cruise and AMI, and added in rear park sensors at the dealer. Also fitted max legal S&G, scotch guard and tyre warranty. Total cost ~330, currently sitting at ~9500 km.

Stock it has climate control (dual zone), bluetooth, rain and light sensors, comfort window and boot opening with the key, drive select, efficiency program (with tips!) and a bunch of other things. Largest lacking item might be leather seats as it comes standard with cloth sport seats, but will have the dealer put in leather around the end of the year, costs about 8k and they redo all the seats, doors, armrest etc with Nappa leather (which is 20k from factory)

Sounds good. The A3 sedan has perfect exterior proportions. Beautiful car. Passat looks a little weird at the back, but the boot space is humongous. Mine also has rain sensors. This is actually a very handy feature during Western Cape winters. No fiddling with wiper speeds. Also came standard with a towbar for my bike rack :)

Aye I see the rear doesn't quite follow the lines as nicely as the A3 does, but it still looks good mate. Some nice cars here in this thread, makes me glad I don't have to drive a Renault (much) anymore!

My family has 5 Renaults... Great cars :D

Certain models I'm sure. But not the one we have.

And sadly for Renault, I don't see any cars in their lineup that appeal to me (except maybe the new Sandero, but only as last resort budget car) or my tastes, so won't be buying one anytime soon.

Three Meganes, a Scenic and a Koleos... That new Sandero looks great! The Koleos is seriously underrated...

Clio RS is what I'd go for :D

Dude... Me no fit in Clio even if me want to. Barely fit in small luxury German sedan, hair touches roof if me try lift seat up. Clio bump head and knees, feel like elephant peen stuck inside pot belly pig

Order a panoramic sunroof, stick the head out giraffe style

bwahaha nice. In all seriousness, we have the old sandero stepway and it has a decently high roofline compared to the clio, though I can still bump my head at times. Wondering whether it might be worth looking at trading in on the newer one as this one's service plan is expiring at the end of the year... I see the new stepway is 9k more than the old one new, should be able to find a demo for pretty cheap easily.

Too recent for a demo of the new model at the moment... The new one is a huge improvement, I like the old one too... You're better off doing a private sale though, you will get screwed on a trade-in

It's a Sandero, I'd be screwed on any sale either way hahaha. Then again, Audi Hatfield did offer 92k for it and I doubt getting more than that would be easy for an early 2012 model.

And that's why a Renault is such good value for money as a used buy :D. Get an offer from Renault and look at what they're advertised for on Auto Trader. If it's R10k more, it's most probably not worth it.

Aye, but any new car is maddeningly expensive these days sadly, won't be buying anything new in the near future!

Now then... to balance out the French corruption in this thread...
