The Audi Thread

True, prices seem to trend higher overall. This could change in time though, next year there should be quite a few more becoming available at your pricerange.
There are 4 that look nice on Autotrader that I can see. One thing to remember with the higher standard equipment is that they usually post only the extra equipment on the actual ad, so checking with the dealer might be worthwhile to make sure about exactly what is and is not inside.

2011 A7 3.0T 75k km
2011 A7 3.0TDI 52k km
2012 A7 3.0TDI 71k km
2012 A7 3.0TDI 92k km

Small thing worth mentioning... Next gen A4 is likely coming next year, and the A5 probably not long after. This could have quite an influence on your trade in price, so next year might be the best time to do it if you plan on upgrading.

If the new A5 is coming out, wouldn't that have an adverse effect on trade in value's on the outgoing model?

On the A6: Great car, but my mind jumps to the A7 at that price range (though prices for both will likely drop as the new gen has recently landed for both models).
Same great boot style as the A5, with the comforts of the A6 (though the ride might be slightly firmer). Also has a higher standard equipment level than the A6 so it would be easier to find one with what you are looking for.

I am struggling to find an A7 in that price range. They tend to be on average 100k more for same spec/age/mileage as the A6. I love the look of the A7 and would not hesitate to grab one if the price was right.

How does the A7 compare space wise to the A6? If space and comfort is Mike's primary reason for upgrading wouldn't the A6 make more sense?

There's also something aesthetically odd about the A7's boot in relation to its front?? It's a car I can't love looking at it from behind... My 2 cents... Before I get arrested for speeding... :p

I vote A7. Not many around, lots of features and very pretty. Also not the usual audi copy paste looks.

Yes. The release of the new model would decrease trade in costs, but I would estimate it to only land here mid 2016 so trading in early 2016 might be a good time.

I do not have the spec sheets for the previous gen A6 and A7 available to me, but speccing the 6 up to the level of the 7 usually worked out to nearly the same price, sorry that I cannot give a more detailed answer at the moment.

A7 is built on the same base, but the boot is larger and has the sportback opening method so you have a much larger available space to use. Inside they should be about the same space wise, the A7 had a bit more legroom I think (less headroom due to sloping roofline though).

And no worries man, tastes are subjective and I can definitely see why some would not like the rear of the A7, it has a very specific look to it and if it doesn't work for you, it just doesn't.

I love the look of the A7 - front and back - but front more. When I see one in oncoming traffic I almost pop a freaking woody. Car is so damned sexy.

I have been offered such a crap trade-in on my A5. It's not worth it - yet - to trade-in. Will try stick with my 3 year plan, then move on. Just under 2 years to go.
My problem is I am impulsive and impatient.

What exactly did they offer you versus what you paid?

Paid R314k. Owe R284k. Offered R210k.
Only been a year so mainly interest being paid so far. Sigh..

Yep. Dealers will totally shaft you - I recall a recent little debate with someone who was big-bek about trade in values; but who has never even owned a car it seems.

Did they claim CPA as a reason for the low trade-in value?

I am weary of handling a private sale myself.

It's "wary" :)

But yes, it was exactly this reason why I sold my previous car to the dealership for R100k. Only to discover they sold it a week or so later for R160k. As mentioned in another thread.

Lesson learned.

Also, I went to fetch my new'ish car from the dealership a few weeks ago after a couple of cosmetic repairs; second hand 2014 M3 on the floor. So ask the salesman (who I have known for a few years) what trade in would be on my car. He says it would be better to sell privately.

After a bit of poking and prodding, he eventually coughs up that I would get between R450k-R500k on a trade in (and I think he was being generous). This for a car that was R642k in October last year (not that I paid that much). And also a car that has long waiting lists for it.

What is the exact process for launch control on an S Tronic ?

What A5 is it again?

A friend was offered R280,000 (Nissan dealership) on a 2012 A5 2.0T Quattro S Tronic with 31,000km. Audi Rivonia said they'd have offered him R290,000 or so had it been though them.

I have an issue with my 2007 A3 Sportback, the windows no longer open or close with the remote and the clock keeps resetting.
What could be the issue here?
