Hoping you are right! Going to book it in this week and see what they say.

A5 3.2 FSi Quattro Sportback S-Tronic - 2011

The slip and suffer could also be the gearbox, my b8 multitronic done that when I first got it, they tried all manner of thing and it didn't fix the problem, then the gearbox was swapped and problem gone, lucky it was under warranty, was a 85k invoice

I also thought gearbox but the technician ruled it out. Says it was very smooth.
What is odd, is this symptom can vary on different tar surfaces. Why I was thinking of the tyre with the flat spot.

The technician says he could hear something in the centre of the vehicle which is why he was leaning towards the propshaft.
He also said my car is only the 2nd car he has ever heard and felt this. The previous one turned out to be different profile tyres causing the problem, which you can't do on a Quattro. Mine are all the same, but the front / back are different makes.

Dunno... Going to have to leave it there for a day and let them do their thing. Hope Motorite comes to the party if it is something other than tyres. My wife had no problem with claims through them back when she had her A4, so here's hoping...

If I were you I would insist on a gearbox oil change, filter too, and then decide.

For the record, symptoms like this can also mean a bad coil, even if there is no error code showing.

I find it laughable that techies decide to replace large parts in the hope that it's fixed, when the simple things are more often than not, the fix.

I just recently had my gearbox serviced - including oils change. Few months back.

Do it again, and replace coil packs. then revisit.

Another R100 says that the gearbox oil is dirty which points to them actually not doing it.mand I'm surprised about the filter, because they don't replace it if S tronic.

Those that have been following the thread, I am pleased to say my A5 is 100% again. Had 4 x Conti sports fitted today and viola - car is buttery smooth again. No skips. No vibration. NO PROPSHAFT FAULT!!

Lesson learned - do not put ****e tyres on your car - especially if you drive a quattro.

My car actually feels so weird. I am so used to the slipping when pulling away and the vibration when hitting the accelerator at high speeds. It's just gone now. Vanished. Poof! Awesome :)

Excellent , eh, I'm wondering what the gearbox oil service is going to cost, it's due now ( out of warranty) on the b8 multitronic , is this something best left to the stealership, or is there any independent that someone can recommend in gauteng

Well the guys I use for my out of motorplan stuff won't touch the gearbox. Told me straight. He does have someone that he sends the cars too though (not Audi).

When I was at Audi last (few weeks back), they told me R4,800 for the gearbox service on the S-Tronic.

EDIT: I dodged the gearbox service because my gearbox failed just before the car went out of motorplan. They did a service on it same time as the repair, so this last service (where the gearbox service was actually due) was skipped. I am due to have it done in my next service though - which won't be long now based on the amount of kms I clock.

EDIT2: A few of us use Auto Service Centre in Edenvale for our out of motorplan Audi's. They are really really REALLY good. Give them a shout if close enough to you.

Good to hear. What tyres were you running? Mileage?

Had Nexem or something on the front (these were the problem). Junk.
Cant remember what was on the back. Still originals from when I purchase the car. I could not match them though for front, so replaced everything.
Mileage on front was about 30k kms. Back was 50k kms (since I for the car). All tyres still looked new.
