The Audi Thread

The Adaptive Cruise Control is the one where the car uses radar to keep a set distance even in traffic it will come to a complete stop and pull away again. If you haven't seen it watch a video about it it's awesome!
Nice!

Seen them on the Volvos and Mercs

My A4 is making a creaking noise, on the left side, under braking at low speeds. Could this be the control arms?

My car is currently sitting on 111k on the clock.

I'll take it in soon, but was hoping someone would have an idea of what the issue could be so that I can get an idea of how much it will cost to repair.

Not that this helps, but I had the same thing on my A4, also left side on 90K. Traded it in so no idea what it was.

I was extremely impressed with the 6.9l/100km to DBN

I think the Quattro may be a little thirstier than front wheel. It's heavier and puts out another 70nm torque
My 3.2 is only slightly heavier than yours. Makes me feel quite chuffed.

That's if I drive "nicely".

12 - 13L/100km...

Bloody hell. This is the same 147kw unit as in my GTI right?

Surely the boot doesn't add that much.

I never get more than 11L/100 and that is when really hammering it. Normal city usage is 10.3 over a whole tank.

Much less on open road.

****

Just checked, lifetime average is 10,4 and best tank was 8,0.

The S4 was manual gearbox and synchros ; two dealerships said I just being pedantic and they could hardly feel anything, but they changed it anyway. The clutch they gave issues because it's a wear and tear item.

Then this Audi was the piston 4 months back and now this.

My orange C30 bust a power steering pipe day one (bought it demo - 9,000km!) - but was fine there after.

My blue one cracked the control arm and developed an oil leak after 60,000km

The car I had no issues with at all, was my Toyota RunX RSI :)
It's a sign, your next car needs to be Japanese

162kW. I also drive fast and often mainly city non highway use.

Beats my V8... 22L/100km.

Had my car towed morning early (arrived 6.55am).

Audi have no idea why the light came on randomly ... the code told them it required an upgrade which cleared the fault. He can't answer why the light came on though.

Extending Freeway Plan...EISH

I got a quote for extending my freeway plan for my Audi A3 1.8 tfsi Stronic Sportback. My vehicle is on 65 000km @ 2 1/2 years in, and the current plan expires on 100 000km or August 2018, but I thought I would just get a price anyway.

So for an extra 20 000km without an extension of the expiry date, the cost is R24 624 (incl). The lady told me that if I extend by 40 000km, then its as simple as R24 624 x 2 = @49 248 (incl)

Keen to see if you guys have similar quotes for extending.

I've posted my quotes somewhere in this thread - was around R40,000 for a 2 year extension

EDIT : From my 7 month old post, an S4 was - but an A5 2.0T was roughly the same. And no, the don't make sense. When I queried I was told they get these prices from HO.

1 year only - R21,122.00 (6 year / 100,000km)
2 year only - R42,242.00 (7 year / 100,000km)
2 year / 20,000km - R38,764.00 (7 year / 120,000km)

really p*ssed off with AudiSA right now.

When we were buying our A3 Sportback in Feb 2014, we were told by both Audi CFM & CPT that the Sportback would not get the 2.0 TDi engine.

We asked to order it from the factory with the 2.0TDi, and were told that this is not possible.

Now I find out that that Audi brought the 2.0 TDi in the Sportback after all.

A lot can change in 2 years.

What kind of fuel economy do you guys get on your 2.0T A4's?

Managed to pull off an average of 7.1L/100km taking the Camps Bay/Hout Bay route, starting off from Green Point, back to the Southern Suburbs. I've got the multitronic gearbox which isn't exactly the sportiest gearbox around IMHO.
