The Audi Thread

No modern auto rides the clutch with the brake engaged in Drive, creeping yes but that’s with the brake released.
Think about it, for a sec..
Do you have a wet clutch stronic? I can feel the load releasing when shifting to n. fuel consumption confirms it.

Your feeling about what happens is overriding all engineering and common sense and the OBC consumption confirms what??
If the brake pedal is applied and the vehicle is not moving the clutch is disengaged, end of story.

A 1min google will confirm that if at this point you are still clinging to the shaky "proof" you claim confirms your belief.

Look, I don't want to argue. I'm just reporting my experience with DSG's, all wet clutches, G6 GTi, G7 GTi, and Audi A4 3.0TDI Quattro. They behave like a torque converter as in it always wants to pull, which is why the instant consumption is higher imho.

I will continue to do what I've always done and select N at the lights and pull the ebrake and relax, when the light turns green I press the brake and select D and the ebrake releases automatically when I touch the accelerator. I will continue treating it like a manual and not keep it in gear with the clutch pedal pressed in when at a stop.

Correct and thats the worse thing you can do to any double clutch system is allowing it to creep esp uphill, destroys the clutch packs

The Ebrake disengages when you put your foot on the accelerator anyway so no need to physically push in the button.

Fair enough, no one can stop you living in la-la land if that’s what you prefer.

Does OBDeleven allow you to change the default behaviour of the automatic engine 'start/stop' function?
Yes I have set mine to memory and switch it off so its stays off continuously if I ever want to use it again which I doubt then I push the button on the dash

Wow, this group woke up. See what happens when Rama wins.

Anyway, '15 Q7 TDI, been perfect, but for I now have a slow coolant leak/loss. No other symptoms. Pressure test reveals no issues.

Thinking EGR cooler needs to be deleted as that's the next issue on the list (changed res cap already).

Anyone know a healthy lead on that ? Car is St.2, DPF deleted. Goes like a stabbed rat, especially since the tune on the zf is lazy, so it kicks you in the face when it kicks in.

Have you noticed whether the coolant loss speeds up if you use your heater? I had a minor leak in the pipe going to my heater core. It was fine during the summer when I never used the heater much, but in winter, I noticed the coolant disappearing quicker and quicker. Ended up being a pesky pipe between the rear of the engine and the false firewall that was leaking.

3.0TDI?

I had the same thing on my A7. It went back to Audi twice for the same problem and they eventually found out that it was a gasket on some manifold that was causing the coolant loss. Will get the invoice and see exactly what they replaced..

@capd, howz the Q7? Did you come right with the A4?
Hey man. 5,000km in, and the Q7 has been a champ. Have gotten 1,000km from a full 100L tank of mixed mostly city driving. Had to put in 1L of oil recently, and with 5W30 being somewhat less common, all I could find on a Sunday was Total Quartz 9000 from Builders ( :cautious: ) – https://www.builders.co.za/Automotive/Automotive-Lubricants-&-Additives/Total-Quartz-9000-Future-GF5-5W30-18B-Oil-(1L)/p/000000000000754918. Will probably service with Liqui-Moly Top Tec of which the cheapest I’ve found is R995/5L.

Performance is impressive given it’s huge, and is more than enough to keep me happy. Generally very happy with the 8-speed ZF. Torque is excellent.

Does a great job carrying 7 and even 8 people. The massive boot space with seats folded down has been very helpful. Cabin space, comfort and height are all fantastic.

Very happy with the Bose sound, and the MMI 3G+ is adequate.

Still waiting for the A4…

See you’ve upgraded to a stinky diesel. :D

Has anyone here got there data plug from Audi I see if you contact them before 31/12/2022 its free

Received a call from Sandton Audi yesterday to pick up mine.
Guys VW is also giving away these plugs as well I picked up one from Mccarthy in the West Rand for my GTI yesterday, so let any family or friends with a VW know, free as well. VW does not install it for you like Audi does but its easy , download the app, create a profile and bluetooth to the device connected to OBD2

VW doesnt even ask to see the car or the VIN you just walk in and they give you one so if you looking for a cheap christmas gift for a VW owner :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
