The Audi Thread

Wow, this group woke up. See what happens when Rama wins.

Anyway, '15 Q7 TDI, been perfect, but for I now have a slow coolant leak/loss. No other symptoms. Pressure test reveals no issues.

Thinking EGR cooler needs to be deleted as that's the next issue on the list (changed res cap already).

Anyone know a healthy lead on that ? Car is St.2, DPF deleted. Goes like a stabbed rat, especially since the tune on the zf is lazy, so it kicks you in the face when it kicks in.
If it is CRC engine code car then it is Valve inside the V thats needs replacing. All test will pass there will also be no leak to pick up anywhere. Then it is defenitly this valve that needs replacing.

Its about 2k for this valve and about 4k labout at vagspec.

Anyone on here that has been using your Audi DataPlug for a while need to confirm something

Used for about a week now
Perfect
If you go under statics
You get an efficiency score out of 100, if you go into details it gives you the parameters used to calculate these scores,
So mine is as follows :
Engine Speed 100 makes sense Diesel Engine hardly ever rev it more than 50% of its capabilites
Braking is 64 Yes heavy car and I tend to brake hard sometimes
Acceleration 90 which surprises me cause I take off the line like an idiot
Speed 98 again I am surprised
Coolant Temp 60 out of 100 this was concerning me as the previous score was 75 out of 100 and I took into account that the car was doing a DPF regen the day they fitted the device and in regen mode engine run very hot the fan runs crazy but today I get a score of 60 and I was very concern, drove home from lunch run the car hard oil temp got to around 99 degrees which is within spec in fact it was surprising it didnt go higher
Get to my parking bay pull out the Data Plug , plug in my OBDEleven go into live data and pull up the coolant temperature and its states 89 degrees , oil temp has now dropped to 96 degrees. So 89 Degrees for coolant temp is normal for me, am I missing something here? You dont want your coolant too cold cause you want peak operating temperatures

Do you also have the same issue?

I am one of those that this will bug me to get to the bottom of.

So either the data plug is giving me the incorrect information or the OBDEleven is but the guage is inline with the OBDeleven - I need to get one of those infra red thermometers and get a reading off the expansion tank to be 100% sure

I got the data plug installed on Friday, so 3 days of driving time, about 48km in total. How does one improve on engine speed, keep the RPM under a certain level? I have an A3 2010 1.8TFSI stronic and try to keep the RPM under 4000 for the most part, though I do tend to drive in sport mode and then manually change up gears as it approaches 4000 RPM. Once on the freeway I change to drive mode.

Is a new A1 a good idea to buy? Probably the 35 variant. It seems to get very pricy once you add the extras like the nicer speaker system, etc.

My Redline is at 5000RPM - 3.0 Diesel so it normally drives under 2000RPM I dont think I past 2000RPM city or highway driving 120KMh around 1500rpm in D7 , I noticed you also have 75 for your coolant I had the same and then it dropped to 60 - cant seem to explain the reason for that score, gauge shows 90 Degrees, OBDEleven confirmed coolant at 89 Degrees.

I think on a petrol engine it would want you to change around 2500RPM but the STronic box should shift into an appropriate gear given the road conditions and load

Looking at the specs
110KW and 250NM not bad at all for a little car
I see no diesels are offered
Have you looked at Certified Pre Own you can get more value for money in that market let the previous owner take bulk of the depreciation

I would go for one of these and save the money but check it carefully even this one the door gaps looks very wide

Or if you want a newer model you can look around for these

Thanks, I'll try driving in Drive mode for a while and see what happens to my stats. Sport mode does rev very high if you let it...
