The Audi Thread

Especially since 90% of the cars being broken up are front smash cars.

A scrapyard nearby has a left side light for me for just under R2k, but one bracket is broken, which is no good.

eBay might be a good bet as well, and have more stock and with some luck I can maybe get a set with AFS.
As long as they’re genuine. Heard the generic, DRL etc. ones are problematic.

Oh yeah, I'd definitely go for OEM again, I've seen those aftermarket ones and they look terrible IMHO.

Yeah, I heard that bit too.

Every item I've queried with Tavcor Commercial here in PE has been available (some locally, but about 70% of it ex-Germany) so spares for the B7 are still available for now, but I imagine that the further back you go, the worse the availability becomes.

Maybe it was just the RS4 stuff that is finished.

Always thought the TDI was as bulletproof you could get on the VaG platform. Suppose everything fails at some point.

My 3.0TDI is still going strong bar an oil leak @ 150kkm. Need someone to mechanically block the egr though.

Mine (CDUC) too @ 225kkm with oil leak and now losing coolant somewhere, but still a proper S3 eater sleeper (A4 quattro with 1.8T 17" wheels on). This one only did 40k miles and is the twin turbo version, but he did suspect it was from previous substandard work done before. I change my oil every 6 months. Need to do DSG soon as its been a while. I did that at 160k.

I mean, what would cause the bearing to fail like that?

I know I brought this up before but does anyone have the elsawin software (workshop service/repair manuals) for 2012 A4 3.0TDi? Someone sent me something but I couldn't get it to install or something something iirc.

The beauty of the SQ% TDI for me is the fuel consumption.
If you are a high miler like me doing 25-30k kms per year then the saving from 9l/100km vs 12 or 13l/100km for a petrol version can make the cost of ownership of the diesel substantially less.
A slightly heavy foot in a GTi would cost as much to fuel as the SQ5 which is much bigger and much faster.

I can drive to jhb and back on 1 tank.

And here I was happy to get my consumption down to 12l/100km in town :crying:

I do have a feeling that my car is running rich as I get a fuel smell when idling at traffic lights and pulling into the garage. So when I have some cashflow again, I will take it to one of the local tuners for them to have a look and see if maybe there has been some prior work done on this car's ECU.

When I bought my 3L Q7 in 2011, reading up about petrol or diesel, the best move was to choose diesel. If you drive wisely, you can get 1300km on a 100L tank.
