The Banting/LCHF Thread

Depends where you're buying it from. And if they're accurate.

Well, if you put it like that... :D

Nah, the breast is the leanest, least flavourful, and usually most dry piece on the chicken. I prefer thighs.

I just choose that item from my fitness app :)

I am more of a drum man.

It depends how you're cooking it I think. Breast is good if you're making a strongly flavoured sauce and you want the meat to absorb the flavour without interfering, and you can keep it tender and juicy in the cooking. It's awful on braais and works best when cut into squares. But for what I'm making tonight for instance, I'd rather use breast than thigh.

Has anyone tried bullet proof coffee using Nespresso capsules, just wondering if the Nespresso would negate the benefits

Works like a charm. I have 2 to 3 Nespresso daily. First of the day is sometimes a BP

That's what I mean. I've made a breast that was perfectly cooked, with the juices still oozing out. Moist as can be. And I still prefer thigh. Much more flavour.

I make Thai food that calls for breast all the time. Still use thighs/drumsticks.

Which flavor capsules do you use ? I'm a huge fan of the dhakan and Roma

Dhakan and Kazaar FTW - I thrive in the caffeine hit! I will sometimes smash 2x Dhakan into 1 coffee mug as soon as I get to work for an instant pick me up :)

Vanilio with a few blocks of Lindt 85% in the evening is AWESOME too

Nespresso is an incredible ripoff ooi!

I agree, but I just spent a grand on pods at the Canal Walk store. Since being on LCHF, I save a lot of money compared to what I spent on junk food and take aways. Nespresso has become my guilt free pleasure and my breakfast replacement. I am tight with my money but the flavours from the pods are so worth the R7.30 per hit.

I want to start doing bulletproof coffee a go in the mornings, instead of breakfast... just too much to do every morning to make bacon and eggs as well.

Easiest recipe anyone? Most proper recipe anyone else?

1 cup (or a little more) black coffee. I use a French Press.
2 tbsp butter
10ml MCT Oil

Blended together. I'd start at 5ml MCT Oil though.

Utterly delicious.

1 Cup of good filter coffee
1 Tablespoon grass fed butter (e.g. Kerrygold)
1 Tablespoon organic coconut oil
Half or 1 teaspoon Vanilla Essence
Cinnamon powder (topping)

Blend with stick blender. Sprinkle cinnamon on top.

Done.

I'm guessing the coconut oil need to be odourless?

Only tried odourless so far so couldn't comment.

When I buy again though it will be "normal" one.

Guessing the butter must be unsalted as well

Some people add salt to their coffee. I prefer unsalted as I usually also cook bacon with it and some bacon is already so salty

Not a salt fan.
