The Banting/LCHF Thread

Taking a good stab at keto again this year, going great so far. Day 11, down 6kg.

But my question is, I was suffering from depression symptoms for the last 2 years but as soon as I got into ketosis, the symptoms vanished. Anyone else experienced something similar?

It has been a relief and I am worried it will be short-lived.

Not currently on keto, but I have heard of some people experiencing it, so I was curious if anybody else here noticed it.

I can only imagine it's people with enormous calorie deficits placing absurd amounts of stress on their bodies.

Not doing strictly keto/banting, but have cut out all 95% sugar and bread this month and will continue for the next 2 months at least.

I still put soaked oats (1/3 cup dry) with my protein shake in the morning, share a medium pizza with the wife on fridays, and yesterday went to a tasting menu dinner and obviously ate everything.

But in general it has been great, as it have used it to force me to make some fantastic veg sides

Not strictly 100% Keto since the recipe says to omit onions for lower carbs?? WTF I'd rather be fat than not have onions with cabbage, but I had a head of and a packet of mince so I made this tonite..
Saved the rest for lunch 2moro.

I think anything is better than processed food. Just realised that vegetable oils and margarine have been the cause of my re-flux over about 50 yrs. I changed to coconut fat and butter for a year and only one pepper steak pie has caused the problem in that time. It probably had seed oil in it somewhere. Bonus is no kidneystone pain for 8 or 9 months.
My nephew changed to vegan but in about 6 months he has become pail and a home blood pressure test measured 53/55. To me that means he is already malnourished and anemic.
