Sony has major media divisions - Sony Pictures and Sony-BMG Music, of course they packaged the format first to re-release their stuff on a new format, but BD as both a computer and music/movie storage format - was not invented by Sony. Sony is the only major HW maker with a software (music and film) arm, Yamaha Music Publishing does exist but they are tiny in comparison.

I also think the PS3 is the best value for your money.

It's a gaming console, music server (yes, I'm busy copying all my music cds to my PS3), internet browser, online store, cd player, blu ray player, picture viewer......well, all-in-one home entertainment system. :)

you see, this is what I don't get - why not just buy a PC? the games are cheaper too and you get a proper browser.

lol @ Picture Viewer - wow, that sounds awesome!

Don't you get tired of updating graphics drivers once a month? Or having to change all your settings to 'medium' if a new game gets released and your graphics card runs out of steam?

And the sound? You most probably have a Creative Inspire 5.1 system hooked up to your pc....and I've got a 7.1 Yamaha amp, Mission floorstanders + surround speakers, REL subwoofer.....running Killzone 2 in full-blown DTS.

Oh, and the web browser is surprisingly good....all on a 106cm (42'') HD display.

You can buy yourself a pc, I'm more than happy with my PS3. ;)

I got a 4870X2 so it's gonna be a while before I change to "Medium" haha

I hope your 42" is Full HD, because you'll need that extra resolution for browsing. i've seen 32" without Full HD and it's disgustingly ugly.

BTW how do you browse with a console? mouse on the couch and keyboard on your lap? it just seems uncomfortable surfing this way...

I have to tell you, I'm with Kingrob here. There's no way i'm sitting in front of a damn pc rather than a 46" full HD LCD with my B&W speakers playing TrueHD DTS MA from my 7.1 surround sound separates. If i'm gonna browse, I'll do it on my laptop. That's what laptops are for. I got pretty tired of the cycle of spending 15 grand on a pc and having it last almost 18 months before it became completely useless, rinse, and repeat.
