Why not throw in the extra R2k and get a PS3? What are the differences between this and that?

And damn blue-ray's are the bomb...

I agree with Fudzy, buy a PS3. Its not just a gaming machine it's a whole lot more...!

I have no problem with the PS3, but I own a couple of DVDs from different regions (and yes I obtained them legally through amazon and so on), and the reason they are from different regions is because you can;t get them here. So that is why I am keeping my eye on a blu-ray player, but first need to upgrade the ol receiver, mine only goes to dts digital 5.1

I also think the PS3 is the best value for your money.

It's a gaming console, music server (yes, I'm busy copying all my music cds to my PS3), internet browser, online store, cd player, blu ray player, picture viewer......well, all-in-one home entertainment system. :)

Why not replace your region 1 dvds with blu ray disks, as titles get released?

I had a Toshiba multi region dvd player and a bit sad that I am losing my zone 1 copy of Saving Private Ryan (the American version is DTS) when I got my PS3, but I'm sure it will be released with both Dolby Digital and DTS on the blu ray version.

Some of the movies I like are a bit too low budget to get released to blu-ray, I struggled to get them on dvd, so its doubtful that they will go to blu-ray in the near future, could be wrong, but on the bad side, I could be right

Most Blu Rays are available in all regions, for the few months I have to wait for some to cross regions, I'd rather have the PS3. It's an awesome media centre. I've had my PS3 for a few months and BD discs look awesome on it! :)

I've got a Z2 of SPR with DTS...

because oppo has sold about 350 of them already. There are reviews all over the net from the "early adoption program". They should become available in the US by the end of next month, european version (that's us poor suckers) "to follow a month later"

Well, good old internets. seems there is a Sony BDP-S360 already out overseas. Glad i didn't buy a S350. Shot a email off to Sony S.A. to see if we might get some over here any time soon.

The Sony Blue Ray player is not even R200 more than the LG one...think I saw it on special last week for just over R3500. so why not spend the extra bit and get the Sony...after all, THEY developed Blue Ray....and its an LG...

I still say the PS3 is the best deal, but if you only want a blu ray player, the S350 and S550 looks very tasty.

Oh, btw, the Sony S350 got 5 stars from What Hi-fi magazine..... :)
