I see a lot of folks have issues with Sahara branded products. Personally I believe some of their products suck and some don't.

Their UPSs surely are worth the little you pay. ;) I personally buy from them and the service has been good and the products bar one UPS are lasting. My 8GB Flash drive is Sahara and it is working just fine so far.

But let's get a general opinion.

A few years back they had a special on Sahara branded flash drives, a guy I know bought a number of of them, he ended up returning most of them because they were faulty. Could have been a bad batch, but it leaves a bad taste.

I saw a dealer told to get stuffed because he said to them their service was slow - they suck, wont touch them with a tent pole!

A few years back I bought a HD. After a year and a half it packed up. They said it only had a 1 year guarantee. At that time the exact same drive had a three year guarantee at rectron.

Cheerz
Voodoo

Ive had generally good experience with the products i buy from them. I must add I tend only to buy brand products like Samsung DVD writers or screens, Intel CPU's ect. For that They are 100%
But Ive had some bad experiences with the "sahara" brand. Its cheap end of story.

These days they offer quite good warranties on most of their products. Only problem is I dread to go to their offices in Midrand. Service is slooooooooooow compared to other suppliers, and the place is dirty.

I also buy from them but rarely buy the sahara branded products, I mostly buy, Monitors, CPU's, HDD's, Cases from them and haven't had any problems so far. I also have a Sahara flash drive (the silver 1) for over a year, I use it daily and it still works well. I don't think I'll ever purchase a Sahara Notebook as I have seen some of them that my clients have and they look "cheap" and of low quality.

I suppose I've never had any problems with them, my gripe is that they're usually *** ugly.

PS. I think antowan is refering to Sahara branded products.

EDIT: <HE IS - NOTICED SUBJECT>

LOL:D:D, i concur.

The Sahara branded products are "OK" for what you pay. Their 56k modems are good and stable, never had any problems with their flash drives.

Think every product is different and most of the times, they will be like Mecer. Re-branded goods, a flashdisk for instance may have no problems, but a mouse may be defective.

I think the problem comes in that because goods are made by different people and sometimes to different standards you cant generalize and say Sahara sucks, or Sahara is the best...

You can not really compare Mecer and Sahara, as it is not only the products but the people behind the products that make a brand.

Sure both are reselling branded goods of various quality, but its when you deal with the people behind the brand that the differences are highly noticeable.

Whereas Mecer/Mustek management are a pleasure to deal with and will handle all complaints and issues admirably, Sahara management are a bunch of anal retards that should be avoided like the plague.

My old high school has bought a number of stuff through them, including notebooks and mice. This mice appear to be working well, but recently the Bursar's laptop died, motherboard issue they think.

However, Sahara said it would take up to 3 weeks to get it sorted, as it had to be first shipped up to Joburg. It sat for a week here in Cape Town. I'm sorry, but that is just plain madness.

Axiz is probably the best, we have had to send stuff back to them, and generally within a week we get stuff back.

More than that I can't say, as I haven't exactly made much use of them or their products.
