It's very active, but not widely known I think.

The biggest bank did incorporate BTC but I think they removed that recently.

BTC became known here after some dude bought an apartment in Oslo with BTC he bought when it was still in its infancy.

I only use the SA exchange though.

That's the level 1 limit
You can upload your passport, ID book or ID card via https://luno.com/wallet/settings/identity to be verified to level 2. The limit for level 2 is R50 000 per month for deposits and R50 000 for withdrawals.

Standard Bank - Standard Bank after hours may take up to 48 hours to clear, you might need to chat to your bank for confirmation though. I found this on Google.

Are FNB transfers effective 27/7 7 days a week? I've always held out till bank hours to fund my account / even resorted to CEX.io credit card buys.

They aren't. FNB's cut-off times apply, you can see their times here.

Generally making deposits from FNB to our FNB account between 06:00 and 20:00 done during the week will clear in your ZAR wallet within a few minutes.
EFTs done on public holidays, weekends or after hours take additional time to clear.

Shouldn't be an issue as long as the deposit has come from a bank account in your name and the ref# is correct.
