Especially if the network is busy.
I wouldn't' worry too much.

Even when traffic isn't particularly high it can take that long. Now traffic is very high with several exchanges crashing so be patient...
 
Hi, also a newbie,

I transferd my bitcoin balance to Bitfinex around 5 pm today, when i check at bitfinex, it still says unconfirmed even after 2 hours,

Has anyone ever experienced this?

On a normal day there's around 30k unconfirmed transactions in the mempool (miners go grab and confirm transactions from there).

Today there are 180k, prepare to wait a LONG time before a miner picks yours up - could take up to 8hrs

It's improved in profitability over the past few months. But still risky.

Trying to send from mycelium to luno. Check transaction details and says :

Warning. Wait for at least one confirmation. Unknown patent.

Is it just traffic?

Can I cancel?

Nobody. Charts FTW, but bitcoin news and people talking about bitcoin online, like here, help be get a "feel" for which way the wind is blowing.

Ultimately none of us know what's going to happen. Not going to follow blowhard "gurus" that think they do.

No offence. :p
