6500 usd, i think will dip quite a bit at 5000 usd and then work its way up again. Through it might not dip then we might even see 10k usd.

So maybe an opportunity to sell now and buy soon after it hits 5000 usd (after the dip), or is that a bit risky?

With SegWit2x all but dead, and BCH digging their own grave, I'm not surprised that BTC is doing so well.

SegWit has been a very positive addition, then we have Lightning Network and a couple other new, well tested features in the pipeline. I definitely see it keeping strong for a long while.

Part of me is hoping for a dip so that I can buy more :D

Bought some BTC at R60k ... thinking it's crazy expensive.

Now a week later buy-in is at R68k. :erm:

Still don't have a full BTC, but one can dream. :D Still just transferring "sakgeld" amounts into it expecting it full well to be able to crash.

EDIT:

Just saw the exchange now. 9pm tonight someone just bought 2.463377 BTC (that's R 168k) in one go. That must've been a hell of a "hold my beer" move. :D

Now R69k...haha I bought @R63k thinking I'd have to suck up being in a slight loss for a while...not to be.

Of course I am. I'm not going to be trading it. Going to hit R70k in the next hour.

I'm DYING to know how much BTC members on here have...as well as when they bought in. I'm guessing some on here must be laughing all the way to the bank now.

Well I documented the process in PW buying ethereum at 8 dollars.

When it hits 1000 dollars then I'll be laughing to the bank and probably delete this account.

I'll take a look thanks. $8 is crazy seeing as it's worth like 50x that now.

At R5k per Ethereum "coin" it's still a lot less worth than BTC, buuuut the way I see it is you don't really care about the worth as much as about the growth. So if Ethereum grows the way BTC did, then it might even make more sense to convert BTC to Eth now.

What I need to decide on is a fixed ZAR value that I want to mark as "play money" so I don't affect myself if everything crashes tomorrow, but also be able to split this between BTC and Eth.

Thor, what would you consider to be a good split between the two?

How do I go about buying Ethereum? I currently only have an account with Luno.

I got 140k BTC using my bonus in 2010 when it was $1.

Then I woke up and my coffee was cold... :p

On a serious note, anyone shorting BTC, LTC, ETC or ETH is doing well right now lol.

It's good that the market is correcting somewhat. If you're in it for longer term growth you don't actually want parabolic price increases because that's bubble territory. I'd much rather things calm down a bit and get boring for a while. It's been way too overheated recently and needs to consolidate. Of course, this is the last thing you want if you're an active trader with the balls for margin trading, lol.
