Hmm, so can you do this after the fork?

so any wallet that you generate the private key using seed words, will have the private key in the app.
Goddammit just use Exodus or Electrum and push all your BTC into that for now. I'm creating a how to get forked thread next time someone asks

At the risk of upsetting you even more, but how long do you hold your Bitcoin offline before claiming the new forked coin?

I see you have to claim it on the new fork coin website.

Analogy time...

At 5pm, everybody who has a granny Smith will get a golden delicious. Can you then go buy a granny smith at 05:10 if you didn't have any at 5?

Sure you can, but what does that have to do with anything :crylaugh:

I think a lot of the crypto first timers who bought at R300k with their Xmas bonuses are not going to be too happy if the price doesn't recover soon. Though it could be worse if they sell now and miss a rebound if there is one.

Oi, Im just messing with you guys, we were all there once.

As to your question, the moment someone on here says the fork occurred, you can claim.

Okay so l jumped late on the bitcoin bandwagon. Bought at roughly R270000, so at this point I have already lost money. So do l wait it out and risk losing more or do l sell and try to recover as much as l can?

Did you buy with money you can't afford to have tied up for a month? If yes then sho... not a wise decision. If no then just leave it... hopefully it's money you can afford to lose. Why sell if you don't have to? You'll kick yourself when it bounces back next year.

Well... there were numerous warnings regarding the volatility of bitcoin, so if you only used money that you can afford to lose (you did do that didnt you?), there is no reason not to just wait it out until the price eventually recovers.

But like how do you claim it? How do those keys get allocated to you?

Have searched and read different stories...

They wouldn't decide to try the stock market without knowing anything, they shouldn't enter crypto / btc without knowing anything. The amount of people who just create a luno account and click 'buy now' without even looking at the price or reading the news...

If only I had some fiat - would have bought incrementally at each 500 drop downward
oooh thats quite clever never thought of that angle before

i think the whales are just mobilizing again, youll see its gonna het 280 to 300k tonight still, just stay glued to your screens

Okay as I don't need it right now I'll leave it but just seeing this continuous drop since Monday along with all these recent talks about bubbles then I'll rather spend it on something than lose it. When for you expect it to jump up again?
