One golden rule: Never by Bitcoin on a Sunday morning. Last week Sunday, Bitcoin hit R73 000. When it came down to R68 000 around 11 am, I bought.

This week bitcoin hit R49 000. When it came to R46 000, I bought. Now its R43 000

Rather buy on a Friday and sell on a Sunday morning.

Those are last year's prices.

What happened on Luno in the last 20 minutes? I left home at 9:35 and the price was at R141.7k. Now 20 minutes later I see it hit R137.5k. There were massive buy orders to break through to get down there so it must have been a huge selloff.

USD markets are only moving around by $50 to $100 in price which normally wouldn't cause such a selloff. I see the rand actually weakened this morning so it can't be that too.

Edit: I see the mybb news hit at almost exactly the same time the 20 minute selloff started. Though if people are selling at a whim like this they are probably better off selling and leaving the market for good.

Bitcoin building momentum to break though $12k convincingly. That's a resistance level, at 12k. Broke through over the weekend, but fell back again. Looking at the 1 hr MACD on Bitfinex, looks like it should hopefully break through convincingly later today or through the night.

PS: These are my opinions - not trading advice. I have been known to get it wrong, so caveat emptor :)

lol i like your little disclaimer at the end, but you still know a hell of a lot more than i do so your response is appreciated and thought about, thanks

Damn I should've picked up more than I did during that ridiculous selloff in the morning, why do I have to have a day job to distract me...

Is there a way to set up alerts relative to the US price, that's usually how I check if coins are cheap although I don't even know what's the correct premium anymore

I use the Bitcoin Checker widget on my phone. It doesn't do rand vs USD price conversions but it's very useful for alerts. You set alarms for any exchange with multiple different conditions on the price.

Hehe! We all try to predict what the price is gonna do - sometimes we get lucky, other times - not so much :)
