It's very strange. I mean who is sitting there thinking "Alright if it just goes up half a percent THEN I'll sell!"

It can only be the whaliest of whales (banks?) manipulating the market.

I buy and sell for 0.5% sometimes or even less. I feel it safer to do several of these small trades a day compared to waiting for 2% with ZAR and BTC locked in and possibility of the market turning against me.

Over the past two weeks I've acquired another 30% more BTC this way.

Welcome to Bitcoin folks, the worlds first decentralized ponzi scheme!

not quite ponzi...just over valued.

we been using it to pay people overseas for outsourced work.
seems legit in that way....

My feeling is that when countries start releasing central bank backed cryptos on their own blockchains bitcoin will become but a fond memory

time will tell if acquiring BTC is the right thing...

At some point I will sell. If it gets closer to R200k again or if I reach my profit goals (300% profit), whichever comes first. I will start withdrawing any extra I make and keep a fixed amount for trading.

Right now this is better than just holding and I don't want to sell because it's hard to tell where the bottom is.

I’m a little surprised at some of the comments. I would have thought more people on this thread would be true long-term believers in BTC. Sure making a quick buck is always fun, but fundamentals are more important in my view.

I don’t think we yet realise the true impact this disruptive technology will have on the world.

The impact of the technology is completely irrelevant to the price of the bitcoin. You don't need to own a bitcoin to implement blockchain technology.

so you are 100% confident the price will go up again? what if it just trends downwards all the time, whats stopping that from happening?

having faith like potatoes of-course...

I'm not 100% confident it's going to keep going down. The risk is worth it to me as I can make enough from trading to mitigate most of the drop in the price. So if it goes up again I win big. If it doesn't then I haven't lost much and it would now need to drop below R60k for me to lose any capital.

It’s of course possible that BTC won’t be the cryptocurrency of choice forever. Bitcoin however has the first-mover advantage, which is sometimes underestimated. It also has some of the best minds out there working toward its success.

We are at the very early stages still. I believe that the issues Bitcoin faces will be overcome, thereby assisting with mass adoption and resulting in price inflation.

I think the question we have to ask ourselves though is whether we invest in BTC purely to make money, or do we also believe in the fundamental value propositions.

The technology is valuable. The bitcoin product is not.
