BMW M2 handed new track-focused M Performance kit

BMW has introduced a new track-focused M Performance kit for the M2.

BMW has announced a new track-focused package for the M2. Designed for customers who want to take their M2 on-track, the M Performance Track Kit, as its name would suggest, includes a variety of race-ready items to further enhance the most compact M car’s performance characteristics.

Equipped with the M Performance Track Kit, the M2 gains a manually adjustable front splitter, which is incorporated into the diffuser, for improved downforce. Aero flicks have been fitted to enhance grip. Round back, the manually adjustable ‘swan neck’ wing can be set to two positions, “Race Mode” and “Street Mode”. In the former, the wing is positioned 50 mm rearwards to further increase aerodynamics.

The Track Kit also includes a threaded chassis, which can be lowered by up to 20 mm, front and rear, for improved grip. The setup further features, four-way adjustable rebound and compression damping, and adjustable support bearings. “Ultra-track” tyres are available as an option.

In addition to offering the M Performance Track Kit for the M2, the Bavarian brand has also released a new M Performance exhaust for the M2 CS, which set a new Nürburgring lap record for compact cars in 2025. Weighing 8 kg less than the standard item, and available with carbon and titanium trim, the system’s “optimised” exhaust gas routing enhances the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six’s distinct sound, BMW says.

 
All-paw BMW M2 xDrive confirmed?

BMW seems to have accidentally confirmed an all-paw M2, with the German marque’s US arm listing the M2 xDrive on its website … for a very brief time.

In March 2026, BMW released a new M Performance kit for the current-generation M2. However, in addition to the Bavarian brand’s most compact M product gaining the option of specifying this track-focused package, it seems it will gain the automaker’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system. Indeed, as reported by BMW Blog, the German marque’s US arm listed such a model on its website, shop.bmwusa.com, for a brief time before taking it down.

The xDrive derivative was listed unaccompanied by images or additional info. However, according to BMW Blog, the all-paw M2 will only be available with BMW’s M Steptronic eight-speed automatic transmission. Official power and torque outputs remain unconfirmed. However, as a reminder, the M Steptronic-equipped rear-wheel-drive M2 produces 353 kW and 550 N.m – the latter available in a broad 2 650-6 130 r/min swathe of the rev band. Fitted with xDrive, the upcoming model will most likely be heavier than the RWD variant, which tips the scales at 1 705 kg.

 
SA-only BMW M2 RR Edition launch date confirmed

BMW South Africa has announced the SA-only M2 RR Edition, a new limited-run model developed alongside the M 1000 RR/S 1000 RR M2 Edition special-edition superbikes.

In a bid to showcase their familial connections, for the first time, BMW South Africa and BMW Motorrad SA have teamed up to develop new special editions based on a vehicle and a duo of superbikes – the former and latter coming in the shape of the M2, and M 1000 RR and S 1000 RR.

Distinguishing the M2 RR Edition from its “standard” M2 stablemate, the limited-run model’s bodywork is finished in Black Sapphire Metallic. It also features unique front and rear splitters, replete with black and red inserts, and a large rear wing. The M2 RR Edition sports a specially customised Akrapovič exhaust system.

Stepping inside, the M2 RR Edition’s black and red seat upholstery is complemented by red contrast stitching. A sunroof is fitted as standard.

BMW M2 RR Edition SA launch date

BMW SA has confirmed the M2 RR Edition will launch in our market in the fourth quarter of 2026. Final pricing will be announced at launch. Only 10 examples will be available — split between the manual and M Steptronic automatic models.
