BMW’s M Division took to the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a bid to set a new lap record with an M2 fitted with the German brand’s new track-focused M Performance Kit. With a lap time of 7:25.068 seconds, the M2 with M Performance Kit just bested the M2 CS’s 7:25.5-minute record for compact cars, which was set in July 2025. BMW M attributes the performance gain to the package’s extensive aero revisions. The M Performance Kit includes an adjustable front splitter, aero flicks, a manually adjustable ‘swan-neck’ rear wing, and coil-over suspension with a motorsport damper system.
