The Brexit Thread

And I agree. Someone has said previously it's mainly second generation immigrants. Sorry I can't recall who I think it might have been Cray. But one needs to start somewhere. Would they have been second generation if their parents or their parents not allowed in?
Been confirmed as 2nd-gen Libyan. This won't strengthen anything to do with Brexit, but it will most definitely raise further concerns over security as this guy, like many other attackers, was "known by authorities". That scares me more than anything: the fact that the government follows these guys around and knows so much about them yet always fails to act.

*dons tinfoil hat* it's almost as if they turn a blind eye at the right moment every time.

How many people do you think are "known" to the authorities?

In other words, how many people in today's world have done or said something to warrant "suspicion"? How is anyone supposed to know when speculation turns into an actual threat?

There are about 3000 in the UK that are being "watched", apparently. 2999, if you minus the twat that just blew himself up. Remember Jihadi John? They even sent him a notice to surrender his passport - a month after he'd already left for Syria. Also note how after every attack they know exactly where to go to find clues and just coincidentally bust yet another cell in the neighbourhood.

Crazy thing is that the US security forces seem to know a lot more about what's going on here than MI5 does - they identified him and released his name. Or maybe it's because the UK is so PC it didn't want to in case it offended someone? As someone recently said, being offended hurts a lot less than nails and ball bearings tearing through children...

They aren't really watched, they are on a list, the ones judged the most dangerous are being watched but the intelligence services definitely don't have the resources to follow and listen to 3000 people at the same time.

They check from time to time on the less dangerous ones on the list to see if they got more or less radicalized.

Today's polls give a 5% lead to the Tories at 43/38.

Doesn't sound good for May.

Her majority of 17 would become a majority of 2 if it remains at this level.

Don't believe the polls, they'll make a fool of you..,

I love that tendency of the right wing people to not believe the polls if they go against their beliefs.

Brexit and Trump were exceptions so far, the rest of the polls has been very accurate.

I'm not right wing, (and neither is Hamish MackemPanji), but I'm actually speaking to people who are going to vote and seeing the local news segments, Corbyn is toxic...

Something I'm pretty sure you aren't doing...

I can find plenty of Brittons saying that May is evil as well.

The polls are not necessarily reflecting the truth but usually they are pretty close. We'll see anyway, I'm not trying to defend anybody or preaching, just informing the forum of what I've read.

I honestly don't care who's elected since Brexit.

I think people have learnt how to lie to the pollsters. And those aren't the only 2 times the polls have been wrong, just the most obviously wrong.

When you do electronics, one of the first things you learn is that when you measure something...just by measuring it you have already changed the value of it.

In this day and age, I feel the polls are actually responsible in a much larger way of altering the final result as it defines the voting patterns on the day
