The deputy director-general of the CBI, a business lobby group, said the papers showed that “those who claim crashing out of the EU on World Trade Organization rules is acceptable live in a world of fantasy”. “It’s right and responsible that the government have supplied information to businesses on issues from financial services passporting to food labelling, all of which will help lower the risks of the harshest outcomes from a ‘no deal’ Brexit. But without a similar response from the EU, many of these mitigating measures would be blunted,” Josh Hardie, the deputy director-general, said.
But the Federation of Small Businesses did not agree that the notices provided clarity. “Anyone without real expertise won’t be able to make head nor tail of these documents,” said national chairman Mike Cherry.
“It’s all very well for the Government to suggest that small businesses ensure they have the software, freight forwarders and brokers needed to make customs declarations in the event of a chaotic no deal,”
Ministry of Defence sources are reportedly "at their wits end" with Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson. Grappling with a £20 billion shortfall in the defence budget, the Tory minister has suggested mounting "really expensive guns" on tractors, disguising mobile missile defence systems as Coca-Cola lorries and turning old commercial ferries into beach assault craft, according to the Sun.
A source told the newspaper: "Gavin just came out with it. He said, ‘Can’t we buy tractors and put really expensive guns on them?’ People were open-mouthed. Others didn’t know where to look. It was totally bizarre."
lol, just when you think NBFTW couldn't more loopy. Now everyone is actually anti-Brexit, even if they're on record as being pro-Brexit and have been for basically ever.![]()
Bojo was certainly not anti-brexit forever, Corbyn I've already provided irrefutable proof for. So your issue is with Rees-Mogg?lol, just when you think NBFTW couldn't be more loopy. Jacob Rees-Mogg suggests that after Brexit, people crossing the Irish border should be subject to 'inspections, just like during The Troubles'.
Rees-Mogg has an idea for the Irish border question.

I used to work for HMC&E. In 1998 or so my team conducted checks on a cross border train, and on lorries at the border using an officially provided mobile office adapted from a lorry.Rees-Mogg has an idea for the Irish border question.

Why can't the UK remain in the EAA (assuming thry can join EFTA)? EFTA members like Norway, Iceland etc are still EAA members with mostly free trade and only limited restrictions and thy are not EU members. What stops the UK from joining EFTA thus gaining similar status to other EFTA members? Is their conditions in EFTA that are similar to the EU that were reason for them to withdraw?
Just wondering...

These wealthy Conservative supporters would be aware that in June 2016 the European Council adopted the Directive (EU) 2016/1164 laying down rules against tax avoidance practices within the EU – but they don’t want you to know that.
This is the EU Anti-Tax Avoidance Directive, complementing the existing rule on hybrid mismatches. Member states are required to apply the five legally binding anti-abuse measures from January 1 2019. See: bit.ly/EuTaxAvoidance.
It creates a minimum level of protection against corporate tax avoidance throughout the EU, while ensuring a fairer and more stable environment for business.
The complex UK taxation system, coupled to the many UK tax havens, currently provides a lucrative financial minefield ripe for individual and corporate tax evasion. Within the EU umbrella this would mean UK companies would have to pay billions of pounds in UK taxation that they are currently avoiding.
After Brexit many Conservative supporters will no doubt be pleased that they will be able to continue with their tax-evasion schemes.
