The Brexit Thread

Caroline Lucas has asked 10 female politicians from all parties to join her in forming an "emergency cabinet" in a bid to stop a no-deal Brexit.

Writing in the Guardian, the Green Party MP said the all-women cabinet could "bring a different perspective".

Ms Lucas, whose party wants another Brexit referendum, said the aim would be to force a no-confidence vote in Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

She would then hope to form a "national unity government".

This arrangement - when a group of MPs of multiple parties choose to work together and form a government - has not been seen since the Second World War.

Women 'less tribal'
In her Guardian article, Ms Lucas - a former Green Party leader - said the national unity government would "press the pause button" and organise another referendum offering a choice between staying in the EU or the government's Brexit plan, whether that is an agreed deal or no deal.

"In my experience, women tend to be less tribal, they tend to find it easier to establish trust more quickly," she told BBC Radio 4's Today programme.

She also added that her proposed unity government would have to be led by a female Labour MP, as they would be representing the largest opposition party.

But her idea was criticised by International Trade Secretary Liz Truss, who tweeted: "Is there anything more sexist than claiming your gender determines your worldview/behaviour/attitude?"

Supply and demand. Current demand outstrips supply. Personally I am not complaining for this inflation (LOL), but ultimately we are struggling to recruit people. We have so many vacancies.

What happens when the cost to employ people goes up and you have a lack of resources to match the required schedule -

Maybe pay more, cheap labour will not be there for much longer.
Umm, they are, that is exactly what is happening per Konfabs link.

On my site a construction carpenter receives £60 000 per annum.

In South Africa, such a person (Ok this was 5 years ago, when I left, so inflation etc) would get around R12000 per month.

Remoaners are a laugh a minute. The smell of desperation is strong! I must thank Remoaners for providing full comedic value since the result was announced. It's certainly shown how far left the "mainstream" left is...notice this is after the complete abandonment of a government of national unity as Labour weren't going to entertain the idea of a government not headed by their anti-Semitic, sandal-wearing Commie hero.

More good news, away from gnashing of teeth London centric media....

Yeah no. If there is a labour shortage they can allow labourers in. This is obviously separate from Brexit because Brexit didn't happen jet. However demand and supply driven higher wages is a good thing.

Rising wages are bad...mkay!!! It doesn't take a Einstein to figure out that big business are pro EU precisely because they now had a vast supply of labour from many Eastern European countries who are prepared to work for lower wages than native British workers as even with the low UK wages, it is high compared to what they could get back home. It's just like this whole shebang in the UK about the apparent great need for foreign NHS nurses rather than looking at why there is not a sufficient number of UK trained nurses, which is harder to fix and requires politicians to actually do some real work. (e.g. one of the reasons was removal of nursery bursary: https://www.health.org.uk/blogs/general-election-2017-why-were-nurse-bursaries-removed).

It's hilarious :D
Yeah so funny that the Remainers were right and the leave campaigners were the ones who lied about what happens in the No Deal scenario.

The actual point was that the leave campaigners never spoke about this and it has been explicitly demonstrated several times here.

Is this the twilight zone were Brexit ideologues somehow believe the warnings by the Leave campaigners, then dismissed as Project Fear, are now being shown to be true, is somehow good for their lies?

Grade A gaslighting and a massive own goal.

What lie? Did you even watch the clip before you started ranting again?

Lol?

Edit: I see you updated your post. You are right, Johnson should never have believed that the EU would negotiate in good faith. Now we have proof that the EU tried to screw the UK over, so we know which side is to blame for the lack of a deal.

Haha, that was quite a low energy effort, wasn't it?

The fact that more agree than disagree puts to bed any moaning about Johnson pushing for a hard Brexit.

Hardly.
