The Brexit Thread

I suppose the leavers are too busy eating turds at the moment to be crying. I should imagine once they have to digest all of the turds there will be plenty of crying, it will just be self inflicted crying though.
The saddest tears will be the truck drivers. Many of whom voted for Brexit. When they loose their jobs.

They will lose their jobs now?

Are you referring to the truck drivers who have been freighting goods inland in UK? Who will be transporting goods now? Fairies?

What goods will they be transporting exactly?

Wait, you assume (Incorrectly) that borders will be locked up and no goods coming in or out? Or even transported between suppliers and consumers? WTF?!?! Have you guys lost your marbles completely?

So you think shyte will just continue as per normal? The UKs borders will HAVE to go up, and if the UK doesn't put them up, the EU will on their side. They won't be locked, but delays will ensue whilst things get sorted out...

In the event of a no deal Brexit, very little will cross the border.

You should read the government's own planning on this. Indications are that the queue for trucks to cross the border will be literally miles long.

Some businesses will not be able to afford to operate after no deal brexit and will be forced to close.

But wait, Buka said there will be no more truck drivers, why will there be mile long queues. I mean nothing will be coming in or out right?

Delays, there will be plenty. Checks will cause queues and so forth. It's not going to stop completely and no more truck drivers in the UK... I think the No-More Diesel issue will have a more direct impact on the profession with regards to truck drivers than Brexit ever will...

Do you think there will be more goods shipped across the border, the same amount of goods shipped across the border, or less goods shipped across the border, after no deal Brexit?

Hint: its the third one.

With less goods shipped, you don't need as many truck drivers. It is that simple.

Good will still be shipped in and out. There will be regulations that needs to be adhered to, taxes charged and the likes. However, instead of giving more in EU than they receive they will be able to get what they give or even get more than they given with other trade deals. This is Great for Britain. No one is saying it's going to be easy, no one is saying it's going to be a walk in the park.

There will be job cuts, there will be negative growth for a period. However, eventually with Britain in full control, they will be able to direct their own destination and not be limited to EU limitations.

Please stop painting this doom and gloom picture. Truck drivers there will be, probably a couple will lose their jobs in the short run, however there will be much more jobs available once the dust settles.

Lol.

Giving the EU more than they receive - then why is the "Divorce bill" an £33 billion payment from the UK to the EU? Surely it should be the other way around, if the UK is paying in more than it receives?

Do you know that a lot of UK academics receive EU funding that will now dry up?

"Negative growth" - you mean a recession? There is no such thing as negative growth. There is either growth or shrinkage.

Other countries have already warned that the UK negotiating on its own will not be able to strike trade deals as good as the EU negotiating together. So, yes the UK can do what it wants, but on unfavourable terms.

Yes I do.

Just walked out of a meeting with a supplier who will supply us with some specialised unique bolts, who is based in Belgium. We collectively have no fkn clue what to do after Oct 31st. It is so frustrating.
Out of interest are you guys not over ordering at the moment, to avoid, or minimize, the upcoming Brexit? Must be hell on the construction industry.

Been covered in this thread already, they contribute in Nett loss to the EU in excess of 6b Euros

Weirdest part of it. most companies have resolved that there will be Brexit and already made plans to continue doing business the last 2 years. The Remoaners on the other hand was hoping it will sink and did fark-all. Now they are crying.

Delays, mean queues, which means less trucks get to the destination as per current figures, hence truck companies have to reduce costs to make their fleet more efficient.

We are ordering as much as possible, stockpiling what we can.

The bolts have been very frustrating, as we finally recieved the design last week. Called in the supplier ASAP.

The lead time is 10-12 weeks for the 90mm diameter stainless steel bolts. Puts it past Brexit.

So we are unsure about how that will affect prices, delivery times etc.

You don't know how the transport industry works obviously...

Longer delays doesn't mean you need to freight less items /facepalm
