The Brexit Thread

Pretty easy when it’s all pie in the sky and you don’t have to live with the consequences.

In fact, how would you know what is best for the UK when you have been there only as a visitor.

Never commuted, never worked, never paid Council Tax, never paid a gas bill, never MOT’d your car, never had a PAYE tax code or even an NI number?

But yet you still deem yourself arrogant enough to know that the British electorate wants?

You’re nothing but a tourist.
Mind you, he doesn't pay many of those things here either. ;)

The wonderful invention of the internet means one can get a good scope of opinion without physically living there. By the way, did you know that even though Dave and Buka live in the UK, they failed to predict the EU referendum result, unlike me? Living there does not automatically give you a better view of things.

Can I nominate this for “Ignorant Post of the Month”?

this is quite simple really. at the risk of speaking on behalf of Chris, ANY, and I do mean ANY, nation that is in control of its own destiny is in a better position than ANY, and yes again I do mean ANY, nation that has strapped itself over a barrel and spread its ass cheeks

of course that doesn't mean a nation in control of its own destiny can't fahk it up in epic fashion, it merely means that they will only have themselves to blame as they would actually have been in control

I've spent time in the UK, hell I've spent time in Zim and 16 other countries, none of that makes any difference whatsoever to the simple rational fact that a nation that is truly a sovereign entity is better off than one that is not

This and Pitbull's post are rivalling each other for that nomination at this stage.

I have never been to Outer Mongoilia, but a quick read of Wikipedia and I have the full sentiment of the local population. Boom checkmate libs.

Of course it does. For a start, it means you can make an informed decision on things based on the experiences or yourself, your family and your community.

Which is all rather more useful to forming a political view, rather than at present where you are a fan boy of a political party that you think epitomises being British because you read a book on Churchill ffs.

Except of course, I have read much more than a Wikipedia article about Brexit. #fail. I've probably read over 200 articles on Brexit from British publications. I even followed the Brexit TV debates via an internet stream! The internet really does break down barriers!

Nonsense.

You can read informed pieces from political commentators who live in the UK as well! :sneaky:

And yet of this “nation” you talk about, there are in fact 4 nations, none of which are in control of their own destiny ;)

The same Churchill who was very in favour of forming a united Europe.

Let us see what Chris favourite newspaper thought about the UK joining the EU back in 1973?

no there is one, Great Britain

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have strapped themselves over the English barrel ages ago and given up their sovereignty, their ass cheeks remain spread wide.

England / the United Kingdom / Great Britain is the one clenching and shimmying off the EU barrel to reclaim the sovereignty they should never have given up in the first place.

And yet when this "Nation" exerts its sovereignty and this so happens to irritate one sector of this debate, they are accused as being biased.

Strange how that works.

I don't post in here but this comment? What the actual ****. Of course living in a country gives you a better scope. The people you interact with everyday make sure of that...

it might be the "braai-day" wine and whiskey talking, but I honestly don't know wtf you're on about

I hasten to add I was talking about ANY nation, not the UK, ANY

Good grief, based on what exactly? So you will have your opinion formed solely by others based on their own circumstances, and of which, NONE will affect your life in any way shape or form?

do you have to be a slave or slave master to recognize slavery is wrong?
do you have to be a rape victim or rapist to know that rape is wrong?

by the same token: you do not have to be part of a nation that forfeits its sovereignty in order to know that doing so is wrong

Wow. This is perhaps the most ignorant and clueless understanding of the Union I’ve read for while.

Are you aware for example, that Scotland has its own money, education system, laws and even the Queen had to be crowned in Edinburgh for her to be the legal monarch?

It’s a political union, and the fact that more Scots recently voted to stay part of it says more about what’s actually going on in the country than you thinking they are bending over and taking it rough shod.
