Was always a con.

Britain's richest man and Brexit supporter Jim Ratcliffe has abandoned plans to build a new SUV in the United Kingdom, dealing another blow to a car industry that has already been battered by the country's exit from the European Union and the pandemic.

Ratcliffe is the founder of Ineos, a chemicals company, and has a fortune worth nearly $28 billion, according to Bloomberg's Billionaires Index. Ineos said in a statement on Tuesday that its first vehicle, the Grenadier 4x4, will be manufactured at a plant in Hambach, France, that the company is buying from Daimler's (DMLRY) Mercedes-Benz.

Yep, most rational people realise that. Unfortunately there's enough little Englanders who are xenophobic and/or racist or just anti-Europe to support this shitshow of a government that's just out to profit from the uncertainty.

They learning the hard lesson that you can’t retain cake and eat it aka can’t subsidize industries to compete on a free trade deal without some form of equity ie tariffs.. like DUH!

Ironically people in SA need to learn the same lesson internally ie you can have hectic inequality with income, race etc but you gonna pay in various forms from tax to political & currency instability the longer it goes on. Equity aids easing it all but then your minority isn’t gonna rule them all much like the political scene.. bitter pill to swallow when in a position of power much like the Uk is wrt financial & IT industry in particular.

I suspect the US and likely China in for similar lessons with Africa as the AU kicks into gear.

Been very impressed Liz Truss - 56 trade deals already signed. Zooming around the world making deals here and there while the EU is deliberately being obstructionist.
How is the EU being deliberately obstructionist?

thats not half bad. any idea of the total value so far?
Well...

Truss said on Twitter that it was the second-biggest such agreement Britain has signed in the Asia-Pacific region.

The agreement largely replicates an existing EU-Singapore pact.

So they're crowing about one that covers 0.006% of UK GDP and is supposedly the second biggest agreement in the entire Asia-Pacific and replicates what they already had when part of the EU.

So... lol!

right.... just like the so called trump supporters hanging onto trump supposedly winning. there is the same type of 'moaning' here clinging to anti brexit.

brexit happened, stop crying.

i asked of an idea of the total so far. not how much a few million is in comparison to the total.

Took Venezuela 40 years to go from AAA to junk. Looks like the UK will manage it in around 10. Quite an achievement.
