I see the governments plan of giving 5000 visas for 3 months, only to deport the 5000 drivers on the 24th of December, looks to be going well.

I was listening to JOB on LBC the other day and got the sense that there won't be many takers from EU for this as there is no "other" inventive for them to come back. I believe that previously, they would have been allowed to be residents after a certain period and that is not the option on the table right now.

Only if there was a way one could be a lorry driver after drinking sovereign-tee ?

Dear Diary
Day 604 PB: There was an unmasked nazi in the queue at starbucks today and he ordered a royal english breakfast tea latte, ROYAL ENGLISH, just like that, with no concerns for the feelings of those around him, makes me sick to my stomach. As predicted and warned, its all collapsing. I fear I may not make day 605 in this post brexit world.

How do you say you have no clue about what is going on in the UK, without saying so.

Lol. You think people believe the government?

The blame really is on the media, yes, Brexit has screwed up driver availability but that’s been ongoing for months.

The issue started with around 100 petrol stations, mainly BP, having supply issues (out of over 4,000 iirc). The TV news jumped all over it and sensationalised it. Next thing there were some queues and the TV cameras were there to splash it over every news bulletin and we arrived here, stupidly long queues and lots of petrol stations now low or out of fuel.

when the demand is 5 times normal keeping the supply going is always going to be difficult, even if you had an oversupply of drivers.

Yeah, fair enough. But the government reassurances couldn’t be any less reassuring even if they were written on the side of a bus.

If this govt put anything on the side of a bus it would be guaranteed to be a lie ;)

Yep. Can’t imagine them going for this.
