Yes there is.

I am scaling back some operations, I cannot get sufficient engineers or labour to support.

I wonder if there will be a relaxation rules specific to EU or will Bojo let some brown men come in as well ?

There's thousands of the latter arriving on Kent's beaches every month. Not sure if they're expecting them to work or not, though.

Agreed. I'm involved in talent acquisition for a major consulting firm.

We now have to arrange skilled visas for EU hires which slows the process down. We're also actively recruiting in South Africa and Oz (amongst others) as UK local demand way outstrips supply.

Yes, and Nigel says Brexit voters will be furious about these non-EU brown people arriving.

Remind me again about how Brexit was never a process made to be appealing to racist and xenophobic fears of non-white immigrants arriving in the country…

Clearly Brexit has failed - pre-brexit legal workers from the EU have all been forced to leave, causing all sorts of economic problems and still, non-EU brown people arriving in their thousands every month!

We are still hiring devs from EU. They work remotely . Just like the devs in the U.K.

No-one forced them to leave. They had a chance to apply for permanent residency. Every EU national I know can now still come and go as they please.

Of course, that excludes everyone who never had any intention of staying here in the first place, which I imagine accounts for a large proportion of the EU nationals who aren't here anymore (if we're looking at sectors, hospitality and construction are probably right at the top).

That doesn't really apply to people coming from India, Pakistan, and those aforementioned arriving in Kent every day. They're here to stay. Wonder if they can drive lorries or wait tables?

Contractors outside of IR35 I assume?

Problem with running actual employees from another country remotely is the "deemed foreign entity" issue from a tax perspective.

We side-stepped all that nonsense and opened an office in India. Now all our Wintel, Network and Dev teams are there, at a fraction of the cost of UK or EU employees. Biggest thing effecting the bottom line is always going to be wages, which will always be why employers were against Brexit: the loss of cheap(er) labour.

You are correct. The transport companies loved paying bottom dollar (pound) for drivers which locals weren't happy about but foreigners were happy to accept. Now the foreigners have left, the locals won't fill the hole left by the foreigners unless that increase the wages, which some have

It's like the transport companies created this issue all on their own, did nothing about it, and now are acting like cry babies because they don't have enough driver, and pointing fingers at Brexit. This is pretty much the tactic of the ANC government when they blame everything on apartheid.

It’s an German consultancy with offices in most EU countries. We work mostly with devs from their Warsaw office. We have a few teams. Each team is made up of the UK tech lead, 2 are local and then 3 from Warsaw. I’m one of the locals

I put petrol in yesterday without any problem. I only saw one petrol station closed due to no fuel and at least four others where people were refuelling as normal with no queues.

It’s only a pity the van wasn’t a fully loaded 18 wheeler artic...
My tank lasts until tomorrow.

Currently all stations around me are empty. Will be heading home now, hopefully some have resupplied and the idiots have calmed the duck down.

Half tank left. Bit surreal: Monday and Tuesday roads were packed, but yesterday it was like peak lockdown again with almost no-one driving.

Went to Sainsburys at around 9:30pm as the pharmacy inside will still be open. Upin leaving, drove past their petrol station, all pumps open with a single car in the forecourt. Topped up the tank.
