Yes, I made those comments myself going all the back to 2016, the Brexit supporters were always going on about needing to stop refugees/Muslims/Romanians (and by Muslims meant Indians and Middle Eastern people and Romanians meant Eastern Europeans) coming to the UK.

When asked how Brexit would stop non-EU immigration from the Middle East/India/Africa they would always use the "we need sovereignty to control our borders" trope. Brexit was a success by appealing to xenophobia and racism, same reasons for those red wall seats falling to BoJo's gang at the last election.

The "War" for independence from the UK is long over. The NI/RI difference is already engrained in the minds of the people of Ireland. They have had hard borders there before. And I see no issue being there again.

That was what a lot of the Brexiters were saying before the referendum. Soon they'll have to pretend that was their intention all along when the current shitshow can't be resolved.
