The changes coming to DStv from 1 September

Not recorded in FHD in 2020 - that's unlikely - even porn is all FHD in 2020.
Why should we pay for sub-standard SD junk content.
You're asking too much. A lot of older stations, and you've certainly included a lot of them, never switch to HD as the benefit/cost is simply not enough. Then a lot of that content is only available in SD so you wouldn't even notice if the channel itself was in HD. LOL @ porn, that's something that certainly would be in HD.

How about we get all channels on FHD.

I'm tired of watching

And your rant is such that we are all getting tired of it as well. When are you going to understand what is all involved in making a channel FHD? It is NOT all about the last mile, it is about the entire value chain that needs upgrading to HD before there is any point in transmitting the channel in "FHD", whatever you seem to think that means.

The power is in your hands.
It is called ignoring the channels you do not want to watch. It is called the OFF button.

As the saying goes...you can polish a t....rd . . . . .

Still same load of $%#$% - Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

In HDTV marketing terms:
  • 720 × 576 (SD)
  • 1280 × 720 (HD "ready")
  • 1920 × 1080 (FHD)
Here is the wiki page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphics_display_resolution#1920_×_1080_(FHD)

Equipment has existed for the last 15+ years that is fully capable of doing FHD.
DSTV have been broadcasting in FHD (actually HD) since 2008 - and have all the equipment.

DSTV broadcasting in SD-WS is not making their product attractive, especially if they want to compete with Netflix/Amazon/Youtube 4k.

Why are you watching all that?

Those terms are BS. What people in the industry use now is HD 720 and HD 1080 , i or p (interlaced or progressive, depending on the circumstances).
And "FHD" is probably an Americanism, first time I saw it.

But what you use doesn't worry some of us, if it's clear what's meant. It was not.

176 Home Channel, 189 Ignition (motoring shows) and the BBC News are also SD.

I see the the ESPN feed we get doesn't broadcast the live ESPN studio shows like the old one, as in the few shown are shown delayed live. I also sense the this is in line with broadcasting them at suitable times due to time differences. Keep that in mind, it sure would be nice to have the Sunday NFL game be one of the 1pm ET (7 pm or 8 pm CAT depending on daily light savings). But I know it probably will be the same as last time; 8pm ET ( 2am or 3am CAT).

None of this is relevant to the debate. We all know ( better then you do) what constitutes a SD, HD, etc broadcast.
What you do not want to appreciate is that the decision for a channel to go HD is NOT solely dependent on the final broadcast signal choice but involves the entire value chain that goes into the production of the content on that channel. The channel owner ( BBC) etc are the first ones who determine WHAT they wish to deliver to their target market and IF that decision is SD then the downstream broadcaster will deliver what the channel wants to deliver or may choose to upscale content or convert to whatever is compatible with their systems.

Go and take your fight to the individual source channel owners and ask them why they have chosen to stay with SD instead of venting BS which you barely have any understanding about.
the decision is also very rarely a purely technical one either. The beancounters in ALL the companies involved in the value chain probably have the biggest say anyway.

Rearranging the channel line up, will not fix the poor quality product offering,
aka "Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic"

Sure... but they often won't have the influence with internat. channels, and will be locked into contracts. So little hope of that changing much. These arguments have gone on for years, even on their own forum (since closed).

As for the desire, not sure who you think would want any of most of that junk in HD.
