The chips are down

I first bought AMD because they were the underdog and wanted to get away from the Intel brainwashing, but now I support them because I heart AMD.

Maybe I've been brainwashed by AMD?

It certainly does read along the lines of...

"We can't keep up with Intel on performance, so let's change the focus. Let's tailor our products to what our clients really want, blah, blah."

AMD bad warranties

As a computer retailer, try and get an defective AMD CPU swapped out - one big nightmare. With Intel I have had two bad CPU's since I started trading 12 years ago and in both cases swapouts are effortless. Since last year we decided to stop selling AMD due to bad warranty service - no matter how good a CPU is, if you can't trust their warranty service, it is like playing Russian roulette - maybe it will work, maybe not but we can not afford to take that chance when a better and faster CPU with proven aftersales service and support is available.

We also had a lot of customer feedback to help our decision - we had two identical systems set up, one with AMD 4400+ dual core and the other a Core2 Duo 6300 and customers could play with both demo systems running the same apps and games. End result - eveyone went for Intel
