The Closing Ceremony

It's pretty common. I was not too impressed, for South Africa it was brilliant. However, international standards are very different, and to compare this with first world countries... nuff said.

Ppl who set it up said it was a 1st in the world for a projected display of that magnitude...

I think it compares favourably to international standards - given the size of our country and budget. You would expect China to blow you away with their opening/closing ceremony during the olympics- given the size of that country and economy. Had we tried to compete with that level of grandeur it would have been plain wasteful expenditure - so given our size and the size of our wallet I think it was 'modestly' befitting

SWC closing ceremony projectors = 18 x Christie 18K Roadster

Found this article online about the complete event setup, incl rigging, sound, lighting & projection:
http://www.bizcommunity.com/Article/196/40/50128.html

Regarding the projection:
"The dramatic 55 metre square projections in the middle of the field-of-play were delivered by 18 x Christie 18K Roadster projectors, mounted on the 2 platforms flown along the east and west (long) sides of Soccer City. The projectors were configured in 16:9 format and rigged in 6 stacks of 3, covering the pitch that was divided into 6 areas."
