An American craft brewer is small, independent and traditional.
Independent Craft Brewer Seal
Small
Annual production of 6 million barrels of beer or less (approximately 3 percent of U.S. annual sales). Beer production is attributed to the rules of alternating proprietorships.
Independent
Less than 25 percent of the craft brewery is owned or controlled (or equivalent economic interest) by an alcohol industry member that is not itself a craft brewer.
Traditional
A brewer that has a majority of its total beverage alcohol volume in beers whose flavor derives from traditional or innovative brewing ingredients and their fermentation. Flavored malt beverages (FMBs) are not considered beers.

Looks like it. Thanks for buying, Morkhans!

The yank definition is very laid out:
Then you've got CAMRA in the UK, they don't really have "craft" but cask ales are about their equivalent.

I'm sure there's something similar in Gemany.
In SA the term "craft" is basically meaningless.
Good question. When does it start getting just another commercial beer?
like Scott pointed out doesn't seem to be any standard in SA to determine this or maybe its not wildly published.
Talking about Gilroy's, where can one find their brews in stores in PTA? I can't find them anywhere anymore![]()
Damn need to get hold of some of those beauties.
