The Craft Beer Thread

Had one off tap at Rocomama's a while back ... a little sweet but damn nice.
Unfortunately at R70 a glass and will NOT have any soon again.

I mailed them and apparently that one will not be available in tin in Cape Town
Yup, it is only available in 20L kegs. This is my month-end tipple.

I used to live stellenbrau, was the only beer a drank. Until I decided to try different ones over the last few months. Tried something diferrent every time I bought beer.

Now I don't drink a lot, at most one beer week especially when I buy beer I don't know.

Bought a Stellies lager last week, took one sip and threw the rest down the drain. Now I'm back to buying stellenbrau again.

What other local (western cape) beers are similar to the above that has a similar taste profile to the craven craft lager.

Don't want to experiment with input from others anymore. Lots of tasty crap out there.

Hold up, have we not all switched to craft gin now?

I did at a time but all the tonics locally available is complete crap. So gin for me is on the back burner until I can find a tonic I like.

And yet there is a variety of blues and pink and cucumber?, i just stick to Schwepps.

So you're not interesting in stout, ipa, porter etc. You just want a lager with a very specific taste?

I don't like the schwepps. And the local veriety is crap. Tasted a nice when in Pretoria, there the vareity was huge.

I prefer lagers. Smooth ones like stellenbrau and devils peak. Every now and then I come across others I like as well, but not often. The stouts, I haven't had one yet that I liked the taste of, admittedly I tend to avoid them. If I come across one I like one day I might change my mind though.

Ordering a Keg is the cheapest option coming in at R50/L .... That means Rocomama's makes almost 200% profit per glass o_O

They did actually gave me pricing on 340ml bottles coming in at R600 per case :X3:

They apparently also have a very nice stout I would like to get my hands on.

200% profit isn't too bad. If you see what Castle (for example) sells for and what restaurants charge per tap, you'll be way more shocked.
