The Craft Beer Thread

Strange taste the first few sips - the kinda taste I can imagine varying from batch to batch. Nice though. Could easy keep a 6-pack in the fridge.

I always expect pumpkin ales to taste like something else. The actual taste is never quite like how I imagine it to be. It's got a weird taste...both the pumpkin ales I've tried. Not a huge fan, won't buy again.

Certainly isn't for everyone, but I quite enjoy them. The cederbrew one I find is more spicy than pumpkin.

I've found that a pumpkin beer is it's best fresh on tap.

They tend to loose something when in bottle that doesn't make them taste as good, to me anyway.

Spicy sounds nice. I've only had the above and Van Hunks & they both taste very similar. The taste isn't really reminiscent of pumpkin or spices - it's just a weird flavor which isn't unpleasant...it's just not spicy or pumpkiney enough. I kinda imagine it to taste like american-style pumkin pie or something. I'll try the cederbrew one and see how it is, thanks :).

Will definitely try it if ever I see it on tap.

So I got an amateur beer brewing kit for my birthday, does that count? :D

Think I might come down here over the weekend. Only got time for 1 or 2 now.

Having a Brewers & Union day, busy with a Handwerk All Day IPA, going down well

Okay, so it's not craft (well I don't consider Belgian beers craft anyway)

Very rich and sweetish, buttery almost, definitely classic Belgian style

If you like malty beers, this is really good. Not strictly speaking a craft beer, but I've added it as it's not freely available - I got this at Makro.

One of the craft brewers in Pretoria is Moritz Kallmeyer, whose brewery is called Draymans, situated in Dykor St in Silverton. You can get these at the brewery (phone for opening times), but you need to buy a minimum of 6 beers. Most of the Makros around Pretoria also stock them.

Berghof is a nice easy drinking beer flavoured with cascade hops, but not too bitter.

Goblin's is a proper bitter English ale, one of my favourites.
