The Craft Beer Thread

Notties Pickled Pig Porter is absolutely stunning. I haven't had it for a while, but it has to be my highest rated beer of the year. All the okes with me rated it 4.5/5 or better.

Can't say the same for the locally brewed Guiness - it really does not conform to the Guiness standard.

Depends what you are benchmarking against, the locally brewed stuff isn't Guinness draught, the imported stuff is.

Last spammy post from me. We now have 4 packs available at R120. Let me know if interested.

Baracas now open on Mondays?

Was just going to post here that they are not. I checked their FB page, which said they were open on Mondays, which they are not. Only reason we were going to go there is because Capital Craft is closed on Mondays, as is Baracas I now know. Any good IPAs to try at Capital, think I will head there this weekend?

I had a chocolate from Copper Lake on Sunday I prefer it to the milk stout chocolate that came out for Christmas.

Has anyone here had/been to Black Horse in Magaliesberg? Their Red Ale and Oatmeal Stout are fantastic. Stunning location and set up as well.

Had many many beers at Capital Craft a few weeks back, the standout is still Mitchell's Milk and Honey.

Cederbrew are the ****. Really like this stout a lot. If I was off to a desert island I'd pack this and a Copperlake dark lager :).

First time I've seen this. Very light and easy drinking. Slight fruity weiss taste.

Not quite my taste but always up to try something new.

Had it on tap at brewery. Posted in thread somewhere.

I'm going to reserve judgment on this one, it had a loose crimp on the crown, have you got a crimp tester?

definitely drinkable though :)

Dammit! Hopefully the next one capped properly. (I'd better get a crimp tester).

Cannot believe that I have forgotten to post here!! Here's one sampling session...

Easiest to quaff: Jack Black

Best for me: Erdinger

Ah. Liquor City :D
Hehe. My happy place. We've probably bumped heads peering into a fridge before :p.

Hmmm...quite sweet and malty. Gives quite a full mouth-feel from all the soft bubbles...it's quite a different texture in the mouth than a regular beer. Taste is nice, but I'm not a huge fan of that kind of foamy carbonation.
