The Craft Beer Thread

Wish I could find Triggerfish up this side of the world -never seen it in any bottle store.

Got my hands on a bottle of Cantillon Gueuze 100% Lambic and Cantillon Rosé de Gambrinus - really looking forward to giving these beers a taste!

which area are you in?

Ahahaha yeah - there is a Liquor City nearby that has some craft beer - but not the biggest selection

Ahhh awesome - will make a plan to get there at some point - thanks!

I think a lot of the local breweries are just jumping on the bandwagon - I get the feeling that a lot of them don't really care about beer - they are just trying to cash in on a new craze.

Agreed. Same with food. Look at Rocco mamas. They jumped on the burger bandwagon and within a year opened 5 stores

Woodstock Brewery - Happy Pills. Not bad, reminds me a bit of the CBC pilsner.

Was at Ricks American Cafe in CPT. Nice selection of craft beer. Got to taste my first Red Sky. Really enjoyed the Pale Ale and Vampire Porter.

Anyone been to The Beer Co @ the Rand Airport?

I've been a few times - they have a decent selection of beer and the food is pretty good too.

Ah. Liquor City :D

Is it the status quo for Liquor City to have good craft beer variety? I went up to Joburg to visit family and went to Castle Walk ShoppingCentre Liquor City. They have an incredible range of both wines and craft/imported beers. Dont think we have them down in CT?

Also Kings Meat Deli at Castle Walk is amazing.

I think it depends on the store - I've been to some that have an awesome selection, some that have a few craft beers on sale and some that don't have any on sale.

We've probably bumped heads peering into a fridge before :p.

This is me ...

Depends on the store manager I guess. The one to go to in Cape Town is the Palmyra Rd one in Claremont.

I was at the Beerhouse on Saturday night. They supposed to be so amazing, but looking at the menu you realize you can get pretty much all the same beers at Liquor City Claremont (even more) and at almost half the price. Would rather put together a home tasting :p

Buuuuuut the Beerhouse has a bunch of beers on tap - and that is just better ;)
