Darling Brewery's Black Mist is to die for folks - they really did well with this one!
Darling are up there with Boston as the least exciting brewery in the country...
Their beers aren't bad - just nothing special - there is so much better out there.

Have you tasted the Black Mist?
Yup. I don't buy Darling beers anymore either. Very bland with a metallic aftertaste.
Ok, your view. That Black Mist was the nicest dark ale I have tasted in a long while. Dark ales seem to have gone out of fashion as the brewers seem to be catering for the lager gang.I've had all their beers - as I said they are not bad by any stretch - just not very exciting
Prefer my dark ale.

Have you tried Brewhog's black IPL?
That's a pretty good beer.
Ale grist and hops - just fermented with lager yeast.
Well you are not going to have darker caramel / crystal malts in you lager grist - which you will tend to have in your ales.
The hops used are also different - an IPL will be more hopped that you standard lager.
