The Craft Beer Thread

I'm a little over league of beers - their mixed cases are such a shot in the dark - and a lot of the new local breweries really aren't that great at all.

Not sure how Darling Brew gets in there. I think most people just continue to drink it because it was one of the first one's out and they haven't really bothered to venture beyond what they know. Boston Breweries - eh they're ok, I don't mind their stuff at all - but Copperlake, Cederbrew, Cederberg etc. are churning out drinks way more exciting than Boston or Darling.

Mitchell's is so hit and miss lately - and more misses than hits in my experience.

Had many an infected mitchells.

I've had one sour from them.
My policy is that, if you buy a local craft beer and it's off, email the brewer.
Invariably they'll reply and make sure you get a replacement, plus work towards solving the underlying issue.

I've had this experience with Standeaven and Mitchells, amongst others.

I started off with LOB. I found it was a great way to get introduced to craft. I went halfsies with a friend so we would get together and sink and few. After a couple of mixed cases we figured out what we liked and then started buying specific beers.

So they choose a random beer from each brewery, pass... Every brewery has good and bad beers, ranking breweries is pointless, rank the beers.

You buy 1 bottle off the shelf and it's vrot. Are you going to buy another?

Hmmm...the Cederberg Boggom (blonde ale) is quite tasty. Kind of a burnt fruity bitter caramel taste.

Not craft but still tasty Brewers and Union Unfiltered Lager, Bernstein and Sunday, Erdinger Kristal Weiss and some Kilkenny's

Was in Harties today so stopped in @ the Chameleon Brewhouse for a few beers and some food.

They really do make a tasty beer there.

Copperlake day.
Good choice :). Love dat dark lager.

Busy with the Stone Circle blonde ale right now (white label with the swirly orange thing). Very nice taste that hides the 8.5%alc.

Those high alcohol beers that hide the booze taste are rather dangerous ;)

Especially when you're thirsty. Eish. Almost finished with it. Quite tempted to try the Apollo stout next.

But damn it was an amazeballs day in Cape Town today. Sat in the the sun for most of it, having lunch in Stellenbosch. Amazing. Hope you all had a great day too.

I had a Bear Republic stout last night 8.1% from a 750ml bottle - was rather fuzzy when I was done with it :D
