**Disclaimer - I have a very limited knowledge of these products but I need to ask a question.

I saw in the IC ad Ipod Touch 16Gb for R2999 and Iphone 4 16Gb for R7499. Now looking at both of them they look similar. The ads mentioned facetime, retina display, and HD video recording for both. The home screens look the same, they seem to have the same connectivity options. The IPod even looked like it had the sames apps as the Iphone.

Now can someone explain how these two really differ? Thanks.

You cant make phone calls on the iPod Touch.

Slightly outdated but kinda ok to read ...

You can. Not in the normal way you would make a call, but there is a Skype app that does a pretty good job.

edit: op, the main difference would be that you cant make or receive calls/sms/mms without 3rd party apps. Basically, the iPhone is a phone, and the iPod Touch is a slightly dumbed-down iPhone without phoning capabilities.

The iPhone has built in cell-phone, so it can phone and send sms's, it has 3G for internet anywhere. The iPod touch only has wifi. The iPhone also has a better camera, slightly better screen and bigger battery.

iPod is wifi only where as iPhone has both wifi and 3G
