K ..... something suddenly dawned on me ..... am I right in saying the difference between a 32k, 64k sim card etc. is the speed of GPRS it's capable of? Or am I just sucking info out of thin air????

The GPRS speed is a function of the terminal (phone or data card) and the network setup. The SIM type will not affect the speed, either on GPRS or 3G.

So then what's the dif between a 32k and a 64k card? The one can store bigger amounts of data (e.g. text messages)
Was told 64K SIM req to address recent VCom net changes
Don't know what diff (apart from obvious capacity) is, but I was told (by 155 operator after battling to connect with 32K SIM) that a 64K SIM that was needed to connect to 3G after changes made by VCom to their network over last couple of weeks
Turns out that 64K SIM made no real diff - still can't estab / maintain reliable 3G connection in my area
