The disc drive is dead

Does anyone have photos of a LightScribe disc which they burt an image on (a cover image on the disc)? There are not many good pics online, and it would be great if you could share in this thread.

Not Sure that this helps at all, i made a lightscribe copy of my Matric Farewell Dvd when my original went missing.
Actually think i still have some Lightscribe discs somewhere, from the pack i bought for this disc.

and the majority of Xbox One's still have ODDs...
It is not like physical sale copies are irrelevant either, whenever someone wants to rant about a bad game they use the physical sales metrics as their argument. YouTubers, and mainstream media, love physical sales metrics. Then again, Steam only recently allowed publishers to publicly publish digital sales metrics.

As long as people lack 'proper' broadband services - physical sales and physical installations will be alive and well.

Yes you can, it makes a nice USB bootable drive to install Windows from.
Nope. Have used a usb stick to install windows 10 since the beginning. No need for a dvd.
My 4gb flash drive is too small unless I compress the wim file to an esd one. I want something like NOOBS Lite where it downloads the files after partitioning etc. so I only need a 50mb flash drive theoretically.

The disc drive should have been replaced by the USB thumb drive.
But for some reason that never took off.
Don't see why we can't have operating systems, Driver discs and game releases put onto Thumb drives?
Maybe the threat of viruses scared them off that technology, but it would have been the logical successor.
Actually that happens. We got server replacement boards into stock ~2015. Included in the guys replacement kit is a small thumb drive with drivers, flash and software needed to do all the kinds of nifty stuff while setting it up.

I burned loads of awesome Lightscribe CDs back in the day. It was a really cool technology. I will have long since thrown out my own but my mom probably still has the ones I gave her. Will check for you.

Had that the other day. You could try creating 32 and 64-bit separately. The all-in-one ISO is too big for 4Gb. The all-in-one is over 6Gb vs 3Gb for 32-bit.

On a related note, this is a very good video on Lightscribe:

Surely they mean the Optical Disk Drive is dead?

Au contraire mon ami, the heading says it all, "The disc drive is dead".

The term 'disc' is associated & used for optical media/devices whereas the term 'disk' is used for magnetic media/devices.

Might be time to get a bigger flashdrive then... Can get a 16gb for R70.

Still annoyed I never got to burn a dual layer DVD.

Anybody with a PC/Laptop that still has an optical drive can you would 100% certainly tell me it's still working. (You not allowed to check)
