The Dolby Ipad Thread

Yea - mine was 4.3 and needed to go an an iStore to get 5

No one in your office with iTunes?

I just got someone to plug it in so I could at least play with it.

I have iTunes installed, but don't want it to download anything from the work internet, it probably won't even go through

You don't need to download the update to use it - just use it to activate the iPad.

Will do it now, didn't allow me previously to access iTunes Store so the activation key didn't come up. It seems to do something now.

Yea basically all you have to do is plug it in and let it do it's thing for a few min! Without the downloading though it's useless ;)

Got mine this morning, managed to make it unresponsive in 5 minutes. Luckily it was only a silly usb port on the laptop docking station. Managed to get it upgraded etc.

I wonder what the bandwidth is on the apple server? I downloaded the ios5 update in about 3 minutes this morning at 6.

iclarified.com also has very useful articles along with all the tutorials for jailbreaking. And nicely categorized by device. Will wait for untethered if I were going to jailbreak. Tethered is super inconvenient if you're on the road or flying and your battery goes flat.

I'm just waiting to see which comes out first for iPad2. 4.3.5 or iOS 5.
Cause from what I've read on the forum, it seems all the iPads are shipping with 4.3.5.

Quick one (or two or three)

How much are the Simcards? Did you buy a micro Sim or did you just modify a normal one?

And who has the cheapest prepaid at the moment?

Thanks

If you can, buy a micro sim. I modified my virgin sim to work in my iPhone 4. But then when I tried with my girlfriends, it wouldn't work at all. You can just battle to find stock of microsims though sometimes. But best to get the real deal. Less hassle and will be more reliable in the long run i think.

I popped around to 8ta today for a prepaid micro sim and they cost nothing.

I asked for SIM swap with Vodacom - since I have a spare contract.

Was 68.00

Thanks man, think it is worth upgrading then?

I have an iPhone4 which was Jailbroken on 4.3.3, I upgraded to iOS5 but I am probably going to re-jailbreak tomorrow using the tethered method (I miss my JB tweaks a tad too much), I am normally near a machine so won't be a problem if I reboot my phone; which I don't often do; my past 2 uptimes of my phone were 98 days then 68 days and then each time I rebooted was due to a firmware update, so for me - I don't need to reboot my phone so not a biggie it being tethered. No work yet on a full untethered JB.

Somebody please help me.

I purchased a 3G Microsim last night and loaded it with a data bundle. I inserted it my iPad last night but it was constantly on Wi-Fi connection, so I did not test the 3G connection on its own. It did show up as "Vodacom-SA 3G" in the top left corner so I thought all was fine.

Now when I try to connect to the internet it gives me the error :
You have not signed up for a data plan. Would you like to set up a new account?

When I do try and set it up it just says Cellular data could not be set up.

How do I get the 3G to work. I checked at Vodacom4me and the data bundle is loaded and 100%.
