The Droid TV thread

Very nice, from experience I can tell you that Geniatech delivers some of the best hardware if not the best in Anrdroid land. This is also a GMS certfied box that means in future that Android Lollipop will run on it and Netflix will in in HD and the Google Playstore will be fully supported. !!!! Wooooo hoooo :-) This means leanback launcher support for the people who dont know. All applications can be run with a normal CEC remote control as this device supports HDMI-CEC last time I checked. It should provide a friendly environment for non tech savy users simmilar to the Amazon fire and Google Nexus player & Roku3. For those who like the Flymote thats cool too.
Oh and this box can go into standby no problem and awake.

One question remains... Are you going to bless us with a custom AVSupply firmware for this box, as this is what i have been missing from Geniatech ....

Here is a picture of leanback launcher and what we have look forward too.

Thanks for the consideration I'm sure this will make people excited, I for one am

Of course! :)

See product page for all the changes I've made

HaHa

I do have a valid excuse! ;)

I'm sure you do ;)
That is one awesome looking box. A big welcome back from your Droid TV fans!
External antenna FTW - I like that

I've always preferred boxes with 2 Gb memory - does it make much difference? I notice this one has only 1...

No - for media, definitely no. For gaming maybe, but tbh, if you want a gaming console, get a gaming console. 2Gb doesn't make much diffs.

So my Mx2 is acting up again. I had an issue about 4 months ago when I bought my Mx2 where it wouldn't power my external HDD.
avsupply and guys from this thread helped alot with suggestions (yotch, Arietans jvanD) -checking the HDD, getting a Y-cable, power supply etc.
Eventually the only thing which sorted the problem out was when avsupply sent me a new power supply.
For the past 2 weeks the issue has cropped up again- even using the Y cable doesn't work
Very frustrating when you watching a movie.
I've tested the HDD on other laptops, pc and everything works fine. It's definitely not the cable as well.
What do I do?

2 GIG? We demand 8 GIG

1 GIG is fine for a TV box. If you do an Antutu test on similar vendor boxes with 1 and 2 gigs of ram the scores are more less the same. That extra 1 GB makes one feel secure and looks good on paper however that's were it stays. It does nothing IMHO, except if you are multitasking a great deal and I have experienced this. Besides scores and benchmarks means nothing, it's about user experience. Having said that the roms that AVSupply is pushing out are even praised in the states, he knows how to customize.

S802 as a chipset is good and the Mali GPU is more than capable IMHO for a media box. Android gaming is only picking now and the rules have not been made yet.

@AVSupply what does the warrantee look like on your new box?

Can you connect a wireless Xbox 360 controller to these DroidTV's?

Yes, but you have to use the Microsoft USB Wireless receiver. The kernel also needs to support USB joysticks

That does look tempting, now if i can only get a guarantee i wont have audio sync issues :erm:

I tested the MG582 for 2 weeks before deciding to stock them, and never had audio sync issues

I would suggest trying a more expensive power supply, but it will work out cheaper buying a powered external drive case

I've had the MX2, M8 and MXIII and no audio sync issues on any of them - both on short and long (15M) HDMI cables. Audio sync over HDMI requires high quality cables and components on both sides. Some models of TV have sync issues by design too.

@Arietans I use Kramer HDMI cables, it hasn't failed me yet.
