So that went well, erased the flash, did the install, device reset as normal and.... Nothing, now I can't get the Android Tool to recognize the device, no blue light on the front either.

Did I just brick this thing?

HALP!
His notes did say a long boot up. Any other reports of this happening?

That took a LOT of googling, I shorted the NAND so I can load firmware again, not bricked! Will give the 1.7 a lot more time to install and report back.

Ok I can confirm, even after waiting 45min, do NOT install 1.7, completely kills the box. This:

"It will play the bootanimation and show a black screen for several minutes while all the apps are installed.
If plugged into a display you will see when the device boots, otherwise leave plugged in for 10 minutes after flashing before unplugging."

Just doesn't happen, box resets and then nothing, literally nothing, the power light doesn't even come on.

Tried 2 separate PC's, with 2 separate downloads and same result. Kills it so hard that you have to physically short the NAND chip jumpers to boot into MASKROM before being able to load new firmware. For someone not willing or unable to take the thing apart and figure it out this will result in a brick.

lol, I had my order on GearBest for a MiBox all lined up and ready to go.

Can someone post a pic of where showmax comes up on Dstv now? I've linked my account but I don't see it anywhere.

From mo

There seems to be a problem if not flashed over v1.6 firmware.
I will check for a solution, so better to wait before flashing the new firmware.

So my trusty MXQ box suddenly decided to go into a boot loop.
The so called toothpick isn't working, any other tips or tricks?

Has anyone managed to get DSTV Now casting to work from an Android device? When I tried casting at first it opened the DSTV Now app on the MiBox and then just froze. I then removed the app off the Mi Box and now it streams audio but the video is black.

Streaming from Chrome works as normal.

Do you find streaming of chrome stutters a bit for events with high bit rates?

Just downloaded the firmware to the R-Box Pro (https://goo.gl/x5TK8M) and the DSTV NOW and ShowMax apps work, Supersport app reports a network problem. No stutters on a 4meg adsl line...

The R-Box Pro ships for about $45, if you can get it. The one I have is the "R-BOX Pro Amlogic S912 2/16". There is also a 3/16 model, but I don't know if this one will work...

It normally runs really smoothly. At times it looks like the colours go out of sync a bit for a few seconds, and then it snaps back again.
